Delivering stable quality requires state-of-the-art machinery that also guarantees time and efficiency gains. Not an empty promise, but a profitable investment - according to the first experiences of Jansen Machinebouw B.V. with the recently installed finishing machine SER1200 Multibrush of Q-Fin Quality Finishing Machines.
As a one-stop-shop for stainless steel machine parts, Jansen Machinebouw B.V. mainly supplies the machine building industry. Since its inception in 2000, the company has grown considerably in terms of machining operations. From welding to laser cutting, bending, deburring and blasting. Especially in single pieces and small series, they make a flexible, competitive and carefree difference in 100% stainless steel. And so their products and find their way into various markets, such as the production and packaging industry, food industry and pharmaceutical sector.
"The trigger to look for more automation for us was the manual part of our (preparation) work," indicates manager Hugo Jansen. "Too much time crept into that and with manual work you always have to take into account a margin of error anyway. In 2019 we therefore partnered with Q-Fin for the first time. That was then for the F200 XL finishing machine, suitable for both deburring, grinding and rounding workpieces up to 200 mm wide. The vacuum system with strong fixation combined with speed and ease of operation stood out, as did Q-Fin's service level."
The partnership was followed up in 2024 with a SER1200 Multibrush. "That is our ultimate all-in-one finishing machine," says Patrick van Scherpenseel, sales manager Benelux at Q-Fin. "When developing the machine, we listened carefully within the industry. So we got the idea to combine bowl brushes and rotary brushes and this unique brush combination is now contained in the SER1200. The machine covers the total picture: deburring, rounding with Radius 2+, directionless or line finish at very high speed for sheet metal up to 1200 mm wide. You understand: this is not just a standard finishing machine."
The SER1200 at Jansen Machinebouw B.V. has three units, a sanding belt, four bowl brushes and six rotary brushes. These can be switched on independently. "This investment is going to save us a lot of valuable time, because it is no longer necessary to manually remove the burr from the thicker stainless steel plates," Hugo Jansen continues. "And we are already noticing that. Thanks to the faster throughput, consistent results are guaranteed and we can deliver complete packages to our customers on time."
It is mainly the finishing qualities that do it. But it must be said that the SER1200 is also a neat machine, in terms of look and feel as well as design. This is important because a neat machine is usually better maintained. "It is convenient that we can contact Q-Fin with all our questions, both about software and development and maintenance. They do everything in-house and that creates confidence," said Hugo Jansen.
Meanwhile, the SER1200 does what it needs to do. Additional setup or adjustment is a snap. The automatically adjustable stations, mix of programmable operations, intuitive HMI touch screen and reproducible finish quality with adjustable programs for edge rounding and thickness are good for years of the same top quality. In a tight labor market, that's an important assurance.
