By offering more sustainable and lower-carbon sheet metal fabrication methods, TRUMPF is helping companies fight climate change.

Continuing to set the standard

Whoever says laser, says TRUMPF. A reputation that the company intends to keep firmly in its hands in the years to come. This was proven at the most recent edition of the EuroBLECH, at which TRUMPF unpacked the upgraded TruLaser 5000 series, which now has twice as much power at 24 kW. "Depending on the material and application, up to 80% more sheets can be processed per hour. That is the future of sheet metal working," sums up Stephan Mayer, CEO machine tools at TRUMPF. Distribution in Belgium is done by V.A.C. Machines.

"Our customers have seen their production costs increase dramatically over the past year due to higher energy prices. Our technologies can reduce the use of energy-intensive materials on the one hand, but also ensure that they require less energy to perform. By offering more sustainable and lower carbon production methods for sheet metal working, we help companies fight climate change and reduce their costs for materials and production," Mayer said.

One example is the new "Eco Cooler" system, which controls the temperature of laser cutting machines using only water and therefore no chemical coolants. An innovative solution that 80% consumes less energy than conventional systems, and is 100% non-polluting.

Hohe Blechdicke
TRUMPF has succeeded in doubling the power in the TruLaser 5000 from 12 kW to 24 kW. This allows customers to more easily cut through maximum thicknesses and boost their productivity by up to 80%.

Digitization and automation as drivers

TRUMPF continues to honor its leading position in the market as a provider of connected solutions for sheet metal working. "Digitization and automation remain the most important trends for the future of our industry. By systematically digitizing all their production activities, companies can save time and significantly boost their productivity," Mayer says.

TRUMPF showed visitors the new features of its proprietary OSEON software for planning and controlling sheet metal working processes. This includes, among other things, a module to reduce non-productive activities. Visitors there could also learn more about Smart Factory Consulting, a subsidiary of TRUMPF that helps companies optimize their processes through digitalization.

More entry level machines

TRUMPF is also expanding its market share in simpler, more affordable machines. In 2021, the high-tech company introduced an entry-level laser cutting machine and laser welding machine. This year's EuroBLECH added another bending bench to that list: the TruBend 1000.

"By expanding our portfolio in this way, we are tapping into the growing market for simpler machines. They are as reliable, robust and durable as our high-end models, but significantly more affordable," Mayer said.

These entry level machines meet the same high safety standards and also provide users with access to the range of proven services offered by TRUMPF. With easy programming and operation, these machines help companies address the shortage of skilled personnel.

Solution for the most demanding applications

But of course, there was also full focus on the innovative solutions that take sheet metal working productivity and profitability to the next level. Mayer: "Technology at the cutting edge has always been the beating heart of TRUMPF machines. Developing solutions for the most ambitious sheet metal workers is our core business. We will continue to put that into practice in the coming years as well."

During the last edition of EuroBLECH, the new TruLaser 5000 cutting machine walked away with the most attention in this regard. After all, TRUMPF has managed to double the power in these machines from 12 kW to 24 kW. This makes it easier for customers to cut through maximum thicknesses and boost their productivity by up to 80%. With nitrogen, cuts of up to 20 mm can now be made without the pieces requiring post-treatment. At the same time, the higher power boosts cut quality. TRUMPF is clearly ready for the future.
