The combination of machine, experiences service leads to success

"The probability of success with our customers after purchasing a machine is very high. This is due to the specialization of our team, with years of experience on which the customer can call, the high quality of machines we offer, and the attention we pay to service and maintenance," says Erik Kinat. He is responsible for sales in the Belgian metal industry at Promas together with colleague Andy De Foor.

"Promas specializes in high-quality, machining CNC metalworking machines," says Erik Kinat. "High machine performance for the customer we achieve with high quality and precision machines. The brands we distribute - think Hedelius, CMZ, Reiden and Hartford - are from leading manufacturers, each of which excels in the segment in which they operate, such as turning and/or milling. Our product range is tailored to provide optimal advice for every application. We do this with an experienced team that is technically skilled."

Forward

Kinat explains his approach. "If a customer wants to buy a new machine, I first look at the customer's situation. Where does his specialization lie? What technologies does he already use? What kind of workpieces does he produce? Is it more about high-volume production, or rather high-tech precision parts? What are the future plans? Based on the answers to these questions, I will make a proposal for a machine that may not always match what the customer had in mind."

Time saving and more accurate

Andy De Foor joins his colleague. "We always try to offer the most efficient solution with which the customer can achieve success, both in the short and long term. If a customer indicates that he wants to purchase a CNC machine, we will also explain to him what the added value can be of certain options. Usually the customer chooses one or more of these discussed options. This results in a lot of time savings, higher accuracy, easier work and thus higher profitability."

Small and agile

Erik Kinat also gives an example. "Recently, a manufacturer with large machines in his machine pool was looking for a smaller variant. He had a machine in mind with toolholder SK 50, which seemed the most logical choice for him. We then looked together at what parts he would like to machine and what his expectations and future plans were. And what turned out: a five-axis machine with SK 40 toolholder was already sufficient to perform all desired machining operations. This smaller version also provides more dynamics and speed compared to the larger one. Demo test results showed that the customer could perform the machining in half the time compared to his existing machines. The purchase of the new - smaller - machine resulted in higher efficiency, lower investment and much lower energy consumption. It may seem contradictory as a supplier not to offer what is requested immediately, but for us it is important that the customer is and remains satisfied even after the purchase. With our extensive experience in mechanical engineering, we can empathize with what is important. And that's how you win trust and build long-term relationships."

Service and maintenance

Service is also an important pillar of the company. Andy De Foor: "The occurrence of a machine failure that leads to production downtime is pernicious for a company. The company immediately falls behind and cannot fulfill its promises to its customers." Erik Kinat adds: "If you buy the best machine, but the service is poor, you're still not a step ahead. Therefore, we offer both and place great value on that. For example, we have two business managers. Richard Hermans focuses on the general policy and the machine range with a good price-quality ratio. And our service director Carlo van de Laar focuses entirely on service and maintenance, since service and maintenance also require dedication and an adequate approach. If it is urgent, we can take action within 24-48 hours in case of breakdowns. We therefore also keep capacity permanently free so that we can respond very quickly."

Andy De Foor joins his colleague. "Therefore, we also have a lot of parts or spare parts in stock, so we can solve breakdowns quickly."

Automation

De Foor mentions another topic that has been gaining traction recently. "Automation is gradually becoming a matter of course in the metal industry. Where now customers may still have doubts about automation solutions, in future it will be the most normal thing in the world, all the more so because finding technicians is becoming increasingly difficult and integrating and programming an automation is becoming easier. We are certainly responding to this with our product range."

Erik Kinat: "We offer several machines that can also be built modularly, allowing you to expand and further automate the machine as required in different investment rounds. For example, a company may initially purchase a five-axis machine that is already prepared for possible expansions. A year later, he may decide to add a robotic cell for automatic loading. The connections are already in place to implement that automation. In the next phase, the robot cell can automatically load not one but two five-axis machines: a left and a right variant. These are hefty investments, but they can be taken in several stages. But it certainly makes sense to consider expansion and automation possibilities right from the start. In this, too, we want to support our customers. In short, thanks to the high quality machines combined with our expertise and a lot of attention to service and maintenance, our customers' chances of success are very high."
