'Accelerate digitalization in machine tool manufacturing for a sustainable tomorrow.' That was the motto of Machineering 2023, the leading trade fair for the Belgian manufacturing industry, mechanical engineering and industrial subcontracting. This year, Siemens was once again present. It demonstrated there how to analyze production data to improve your machine tools and accelerate your digital transformation. In doing so, it focused on three themes: digitalization, sustainability and the user experience.
The offering is aimed at both the tool builder and user. Builders are helping Siemens increase productivity through the digital twin in machine tools and through SINUMERIK ONE. Thus, that optimization, further facilitated by Industrial Edge for Machine Tools, offers a faster path to a better machine. Machine users, in turn, are happy to support Siemens through Run MyVirtual Machine, among others, which allows it to reduce programming time. In addition, SINUMERIK ONE CNC systems and the continuous analysis of production data (Analyze MyWorkpiece/Toolpath) help them produce the right tool part faster and more efficiently.
With its open, digital business platform Siemens Xcelerator, the company showed at Machineering how to seamlessly connect the real and digital worlds. Xcelerator helps customers in various industries create added value and accelerate their digital transformation - simply and scalably. It also makes building and using machines more flexible and sustainable. The platform comprises three pillars:
- A portfolio of hardware, software and digital services from Siemens (and approved third parties), compatible with the Internet of Things (IoT).
- A growing ecosystem of partners.
- A forum that facilitates interactions and transactions between customers, partners and developers.
At Machineering 2023, Siemens also presented a variety of innovations for its machine tool apps Manage MyResources/Tools, Manage MyResources/Programs and Analyze MyPerformance/OEE. Thanks to more extensive connectivity, among other things, these solutions now have even more to offer for the ideal connection between machines and resource management - on the entire shop floor. Prepare orders smoothly, manage tool components and part production smoothly, and make even more efficient use of your production capacity. Siemens also presented innovations around the already available apps Manage MyMachines, Manage MyMachines/Remote and Analyze MyMachine/Condition. These allow you to retrieve and analyze data when machining workpieces for more streamlined maintenance planning.
Siemens' unique seven-step approach enables product manufacturers, machine and line builders to integrate and digitize their entire value chain. How? With a digital twin, reconciling the real and virtual worlds. A service approach that guides you through your digital transformation journey. In addition, of course, the company also has the necessary CNC products:
- SINUMERIK ONE: the perfect CNC solution for any tool and for digitization in tool construction. It offers modular and flexible structures to program and visualize operations.
- Mcenter (formerly: SINUMERIK Integrate): Siemens' open, on-premises platform for your shopfloor network helps parts manufacturers simplify and centralize their IT management and ensure transparent data.
- SINUMERIK Edge: a machine-centric platform that combines hardware and software to support digital production and optimize existing machine tools.
- SINAMICS S120: the powerful, integrated drive system behind SINUMERIK ONE.
- Digital Motion Control Services: support for the digitization of your production processes. In the process, Siemens also offers additional services, such as Brownfield Connectivity Services, Predictive Analytics, the MindSphere application SINUMERIK Service Assistance, retrofit and modernization services.
