In every workshop, welding tables play an important role in the quality, speed and efficiency of welding. But a welding table is not cheap and especially when special dimensions are involved. Founded in 2017, welding-table-shop.com's mission is to make it possible for every company to purchase a perfect welding table quickly and inexpensively. The fact that they succeed in this is due in part to a sophisticated combination of smart design and efficient production, with the use of robotics becoming increasingly important.
Ruud de Boer, director/owner of Koudekerk aan den Rijn-based weldafelshop.com explains how he went from contractor to leading manufacturer of welding tables. 'I wanted to buy a welding table, but I thought the investment was just too high. However, because you can save a lot of time with such a table, I designed and produced three tables for my own use. Customers who saw this asked if those tables could also be ordered, and from that the new company and the web shop were born. We sell both welding tables and associated tools and accessories including stop angles, inserts, holders for grinding tools, store hooks, as well as drawer blocks, lifting tables, etc.'
'All products in our webshop are extensively tested and used by our team before we put it in the webshop,' says de Boer. 'Tables in standard sizes are always in stock. We can switch quickly and deliver quickly. Even if we are talking about special dimensions.'
'We have been using robotic welding for a long time,' says de Boer. 'But by now the robot was outdated and also no longer met the current, stricter safety requirements. Apart from that, we wanted to place the robot in one position with a turntable in front of the robot on which the parts of the products to be welded could be positioned in jigs. The advantage of this new set-up was that when the robot is welding, you can unload the other side of the turntable and then immediately start clamping new parts, allowing you to run much more production. For the new robot, we were looking for a party that could supply both the robot and the welding jigs. In principle, we can also make the molds ourselves, but for many of our products we got stuck at various points. We then ended up at RobWelding.
RobWelding, founded in 2006, is a total supplier in the field of robotic welding. 'Our specialization is to optimally guide companies in the step from manual welding to robotic welding,' says Martijn Hubers, Sales-Advisor at RobWelding in Dodewaard. 'We now have more than twenty-five employees and build complete robotic installations that are integrated into our customers' production environments. Besides building robot setups, we also develop specific molds for customers that are perfectly tailored to the application.'
The ReadyRoboticCell M250 supplied by RobWelding looks sleek and solid and has the advantage that the complete cell can be easily moved. Also a plus is the Bulls-Eye. This is an automatic calibration system for the welding gun, which ensures that the weld is always in the same place. The automatic cycle unburdens the operator and simply allows more products to be welded per day.
'The continuity of the welding is obviously much better,' de Boer stresses. 'We only make series work and when you do it by hand the quality varies anyway. Thanks to the accurate jigs and robotic welding, the welds are of optimal quality and always the same size. An additional advantage is that anyone can fill the mold, making the process less employee-dependent. Due to this success, we want to successively robotize all welding processes in our company and in the future also weld the welding tables with a robot.'
