The LT12 tube laser cutting machine from BLM GROUP is not just another new laser cutting system, but an innovative solution that gives tube and profile processing companies a competitive advantage. This new tube laser, presented at the Innova Open House event 2023, immediately convinced customers with its versatility and performance. The first LT12 in the Netherlands will be installed soon.
Why a new system? René Hazenberg, magaging director of the Benelux branch explains that the LT12 fills the gap between the LT8.20, aimed at flexibility, and the LT14, for heavy profiles. "Customers often asked for a machine larger than the LT8.20, but not as large as the LT14. The LT12 offers the ability to process both light and larger tubes with high performance."
The LT12 is particularly interesting for the agricultural machinery industry, since square and rectangular tubes are often used there whose diameters are around 300 mm, perfect for the LT12. Also in light construction, the LT12 is ideal for pipes and beams 6-8 mm thick and lengths longer than the traditional 6 meters.
Key Features The LT12's design is similar to that of the LT8.20, with a chuck in the tailstock and a fixed support in the cutting area. The LT12 offers time savings in processing large tubes through efficient scrap reduction. The machine can load tubes from 8.5 to 12.5 meters and unload fully automatically. The quality of tube support systems, both before and after the cutting zone, is always a strong point of BLM GROUP's systems.
The LT12 has smart guide systems, including a special reverse guide that minimizes wear. There are also Active Tools, such as Active Scan, that quickly check the correct position and dimensions of the tube, ensuring precision. The longer focal length cutting head can handle thicker tubes and tilts up to 50°, offering greater flexibility. Active Piercing and Active Focus ensure fast and accurate cutting performance.
The LT12 also offers mechanical machining capabilities, such as thread tapping for holes from M4 to M12. With a 16-tool magazine and advanced tool control, these operations can be fully automated in the CAD/CAM phase with ArTube software.
"With the LT12, we expect the scope of application of tube lasers to expand and it will attract new customers who were previously reluctant, as well as customers who want to replace their current systems or increase production," concludes René Hazenberg.
