Since 2020, the Dutch market for laser cutting machines has been enriched by the ambitious Penta Laser brand. Penta Laser's roots are in Europe. Founded in 2007, machines in accordance with strict European quality standards are produced by the joint venture in China. The best of both worlds is merged here. The result manifests itself in a wide range of laser cutting machines with an unprecedented price/quality ratio.
'In July 2019, I made a tour of China and visited several machine manufacturers there,' says Jeroen Carmiggelt responsible for sales and service of Penta Laser in the Benelux. 'After a thorough research online, I came in contact with Penta Laser, a joint venture of the Elen Group and Chutian Laser Group. They are the market leader with high power Fiber laser cutting machines and have over 30 years of experience with all kinds of laser applications. Penta Laser has three factories in China and service and training centers in 35 major cities in more than 10 countries around the world. They are the largest in China with well-known customers such as the Sany Group (heavy machinery) and BYD, the Chinese manufacturer of luxury electric cars, among others. The laser machines are robust and fully equipped, with the compatible software being a great advantage for integration into existing production automation environments and for offline programming, for example.'
'The important thing when selling laser solutions is to deliver on your promises,' Carmiggelt stresses. 'Especially the power, the format and any automation must fit well with what the user wants to do. We have a wide range of options in terms of 2D and 3D laser cutting. Cutting with a so-called Bevelhead is a standard solution for Penta Laser, also with the plate laser. We work with power ratings from 3 kW to meanwhile 85 kW. In addition to plate lasers, there are also various types of profile lasers and 3D laser cells, suitable for both laser cutting and laser welding. Penta Laser's maturity is also reflected in integrated automation solutions with, for example, material towers that are mechanically and software linked to the machine(s), including infeed and outfeed systems.'
'We are now five years on and have already sold several dozen lasers in the Netherlands,' Carmiggelt continues. 'The market is also starting to discover the usefulness and possibilities of high-power lasers. High power not only means that you can cut really thick plates, but also that you can cut materials up to 5 mm thick three to five times faster. Moreover, the operating costs of a Penta laser, even at high power levels, are surprisingly low, resulting in a very favorable return on investment.
'Penta Laser's brand awareness in Europe is not that great yet and we are working hard on that,' says Carmiggelt. 'We will be at the Metavak in Gorinchem in October and a few weeks later in Germany at the EuroBlech in Hanover. There we will be giving live demos with a 60 kW laser so everyone can see how incredibly fast and effective this machine is. Furthermore, we are working together with Penta Laser to open an office/service point. There, interested parties can come and take a look soon.'
'We are also optimizing our organization in the area of maintenance and service,' Carmiggelt emphasizes. 'We have a 24/7 helpdesk and maintenance and service specialists who carry out repairs and maintenance on site and can help customers with questions. We keep stock, are always available and have direct contact with the manufacturer so we can move quickly.'
