Double the power, more than double the productivity

At the last EuroBLECH, TRUMPF showed the upgraded TruLaser 5000 series. It received twice as much power. With an output of 24 kW, the new laser source - a TruDisk 24001 - can cut metal sheets three times faster. Depending on the material and application, you can thus boost your productivity with 80%. 

The introduction of the familiar TruLaser 5000 in its new guise has not gone unnoticed. "Higher power means for metalworkers that they can reduce processing time while increasing the quality of the pieces processed. With its patented cutting unit, automated functions and dynamic performance, this technology gives your productivity a significant push in the right direction," says product manager Patrick Schüle. With double the power, the new laser cutting machine can cut pieces significantly faster. The extra power in its arsenal also allows the TruLaser 5000 to cut mild steel up to 20 mm thick with nitrogen as the cutting gas. This eliminates the need for post-processing, which can be the case with oxygen.

Improved quality

With a 12 kW laser source, metallurgists could already cut mild steel with nitrogen up to a thickness of 15 mm. Thicker pieces required the addition of oxygen. This results in the formation of a thin oxide layer on the cutting edges of the piece. These must then be removed afterwards either manually or by machine, a process that is labor- and time-consuming. As an alternative, companies often look to plasma cutting technology to process thicker materials. However, then they have to sacrifice speed and precision compared to the laser. In contrast, a 24 kW laser offers the best of both worlds. Pieces up to 20 mm can now be machined quickly and qualitatively with nitrogen. As a result, hardly any post-processing is required and productivity increases significantly. At the same time, the increased laser power ensures improved piece quality, especially in medium and high thicknesses.

Ideal for processing medium and thick plate

The additional power of the 24 kW that is now at the heart of the TruLaser 5000 series will benefit all metalworkers who want to further increase their productivity and the quality of their pieces. It allows users to produce pieces from medium and thick sheets in a very efficient way, in all types of materials.
