Deburring process with many possibilities

Steel Constructions is a manufacturer of guide rail, traffic equipment, logistics equipment and scaffolding equipment, among other products. To meet the different machining needs of its products, the company has two Timesavers 42 RB series machines with a reversing unit in line. 

Each type of product has its own quality requirements. Marco Hage, Manager of Operations: "Guide rail has to meet a lot of requirements. So everything is inspected and tested so that it fits within the standards." In addition, a 2-mm radius is required for handrail components and products that are powder-coated or wet-coated. The radius contributes to a longer service life. 

Hage: "We used to have to deburr everything by hand. That was done the traditional way with the angle grinder. Very labor-intensive. And the result was not always precise enough. Our customers wanted a certain radius to the sheet metal." 

Therefore, Steel Constructions has chosen two Timesavers 42 series with a 1350 mm working width. The deburring machines have eight rotary brushes that deburr and round the edges to a radius of 2 mm. Thanks to the special magnetic table, it is possible to deburr and brush steel tubes, guard rails and sheet metal in all sizes.

The Timesavers machines line up with a reversing unit, a return table and a dust collector. The reversing unit ensures that Hage and his colleagues need to turn a product as little as possible. At most once in the case of steel tubes that have to be machined on four sides. A huge advantage, when you consider that some parts are up to six meters long and therefore incredibly heavy. Small parts under 400 by 400 millimeters are brought to the front of the machine via the return table. "Productivity increases. And that too with fewer people."
