SBM Training: introduction to mechanical engineering

“Introduction to mechanical engineering" is a basic course that provides an overview of the most important aspects of mechanical engineering.

Developed from many years of experience, the syllabus provides, in a practical manner, the necessary foundation to be able to speak fluently with professionals on various topics in mechanical engineering. The course is structured in such a way that it does connect the various fields, standards, legislation, safety.

What's on the program?

Module 1: Basic construction knowledge in mechanical engineering - 4 sessions
The introductory module explains all the basics necessary to understand the proper operation of a technical installation. The technical jargon from various fields is covered comprehensibly, clearly and practically.

Among other things, material properties are covered here, failure modes of structures, the main workshop production techniques, the iso system for boundary dimensions and fits, etc.

Module 2: Drive Engineering Basics - 4 sessions
This module covers the essential principles of motion, force and energy conversion in engineering systems. Participants gain in-depth knowledge of electric motors, drives, and develop skills in pneumatics, hydraulics and automation. This module equips them with the expertise to understand, design, and maintain advanced technological systems.

Module 3: Machine parts: introduction to basic operation - 4 sessions
This module deals with the main joining techniques and machine components over which the machine designer himself has the most influence on their realization. It is precisely these components where most problems arise in practice.

What does one know after taking this course?
Sufficient knowledge of the basic concepts in mechanical engineering to talk to an expert in practice about the design or any modifications to a machine.

This advanced course takes a closer look at designing and calculating machine components to minimize the chance of premature failure and also pays extra attention to the safety aspect.
