It is obvious that neat and attractive workwear exudes professionalism. This is also the case for skilled workers. In this context, Mewa Textile-Service surveyed this group of workers. What is most important to them when it comes to workwear? The answers show that skilled workers find it important that workwear makes them look like competent professionals. Reliability and professionalism top the list along with safety aspects and wearing comfort.
In addition to the functional requirements for workwear, respondents emphasized how important the perception of their workwear is to them. They want to see the quality of their personal craftsmanship and their ability to advise customers reflected in a high-quality outfit.
According to Mewa's survey, professionals prefer to dress fashionably and seriously. People no longer want to wear clothing that is not stylish. The trend toward sporty, close-fitting fits and dark gray or blue shades in terms of color choices is in line with current needs.
What is worn in the workplace depends greatly on the activity. For outdoor work and in automotive workshops, onion looks (layers of clothing) are preferred to be flexibly equipped for changing temperatures and uncomfortable weather conditions. Employers therefore mainly want teamwear that consists of different items that can be easily combined with each other. In addition to the T-shirt, for example, a vest and jacket in identical colors are then worn. As diverse as the construction industry is, individual clothing requirements also prove to be diverse. Rainproof outdoor jackets, warm fleece clothing and breathable T-shirts are the most popular. In interior construction, the emphasis is on clothing that is robust and hard-wearing. As before, garden pants are still the garment of choice for those working in garages and body shops while vests are the most desired garment for those working in the construction industry.
For people who exert physical effort all day, ease of movement and comfort of wearing work clothes are most important. The vast majority of those surveyed in skilled professions explicitly prefer outfits made of materials that are as skin-friendly and breathable as possible. For outdoor work, tight-fitting models with great freedom of movement - which is achieved through elastic inserts or elasticized blended fabrics - are the trend we observe among professionals.
Screwdriver, folding rule, wallet, smartphone ... Craftsmen desire storage space in their work clothes. Sufficient pockets in the right size, in the right place and with the right strength appear to be an important item among the surveyed respondents. This is especially true for pants. After all, work accessories must be able to be stored even when not wearing a jacket or vest. We could also conclude from the survey that back and leg pockets should be easy to close so that the contents do not fall out when squatting or kneeling. For safe tool storage, cargo or leg pockets whose seam is reinforced are desirable. According to the majority, a good pocket concept takes into account current smartphone sizes and a convenient layout for pens or business cards.
