Wall and floor cabinet systems for even the toughest environments

With their robust quality, Rittal's industrial cabinets and enclosures have been proving themselves to be the perfect choice in the metal industry for many years. After all, an environment that demands solutions that can take a beating. A striking series in the German manufacturer's range are the AX wall and floor enclosure systems, which excel in simplicity, safety, speed of assembly and flexibility. The perfect choice for machine builders to house distribution boxes and control boards that work reliably even in the harshest industrial environments.

The wall and floor cabinets of the AX range offer maximum data quality and transparency in engineering. In addition, they guarantee maximum flexibility and safety.

Filip Raman, product manager Industrial Enclosures and Power Distribution Rittal, explains what makes AX enclosures such a good choice for the metal industry: "To keep electrical components working reliably in even the most difficult environments (think dust, rising temperatures, swarf...) these enclosures offer optimal protection. The sheet steel we use for all our enclosures has been given various coatings so that we can guarantee excellent protection against external factors. Even if the cabinet still needs to have different components. Numerous accessories are also provided for the internal assembly of the AX enclosure, as well as a multifunctional mounting profile that can be clamped instead of being drilled. In this way, the IP protection class also remains intact." Users have a choice of sizes.

Ease of use first

The trusted Rittal quality is enshrined in worldwide certificates and quality tests. In addition, real thought was given during development to how ease of use could be maximized.

Raman: "With a minimum of tools, rail systems, mounting elements, gland plates, system lighting ... can be installed. The assembly possibilities are endless. With the RiPanel online configurator, the customer can equip his enclosure as desired, including accessories, and even use the parts list to place the order directly via the web shop. Moreover, Rittal goes that extra mile, for those who want it, by already providing any recesses that may be required, for example, for a fan to be installed. The file is automatically generated by the RiPanel configurator and sent to the Perforex CNC machine, so there is no chance of error."

In the just-opened Rittal Application Center in Lokeren, by the way, you can see for yourself how it's all done.

In fiberglass reinforced polyester

The AX range has more than just a sheet steel version. "The cabinet is also available in fiberglass-reinforced polyester, also with protection rating IP66. Here we combine our sophisticated system technology with all its flexibility and mounting possibilities with an extremely robust material," Raman emphasizes. A particularly interesting choice for photovoltaic systems, for example. "After all, plastic has even better insulating functions. An ideal solution to house all the technology to convert direct current to alternating current."

A variant of the AX polyester cabinet, in different sizes, will also be launched soon for ATEX environments.

Further versions

A stainless steel version will be added to the AX range in the near future, by the way. Raman also likes to point out the AX control enclosures for support arm systems: "Very specific enclosures for built-in touchscreens, among other things, which are based on the AX series and all its advantages. And for those more concerned with IT or server applications, the AX series has variants with 19" profiles, which are the standard in this world. So we can use the strengths of the AX range for a lot of applications," Raman concludes. ■
