New versatile range of solid carbide finger milling cutters
Cutting tools and tool systems specialist Sandvik Coromant introduces a completely new range of high-end versatile solid carbide finger milling cutters. CoroMill® Dura will replace the existing Versatile CoroMill® Plura finger milling cutters. The concept is designed for roughing and finishing with different gripping applications and materials.
What sets CoroMill® Dura apart, compared to the previous Versatile concept and competitors' finger mills, is its unique vibration-free technology. Dr. Markus Groppe, global product application manager at Sandvik Coromant, explains the uneven helix concept: "Each chip groove has a different angle of inclination and each level of the cutting edge is unevenly distributed compared to the others. In this way, you can achieve very good stability and efficient machining without vibration."
Another notable feature is how easy it is to choose the right tool within the extensive range of solid carbide finger milling cutters presented in the offering. "We have put a special effort into the tool selection aspect. Finding the right tool within the CoroMill® Dura range should never be a hassle," says Groppe.
First choice is the plug-and-play solution with four chip grooves, which works in a wide range of applications. Additional tool variants are available for more specific operations, such as keyways, dynamic milling, semi-finishing and finishing.
More support can also be provided with the CoroPlus® Tool Guide for CoroMill® Dura online tool selector that supports the application areas of slot milling, chamfering and circular interpolation - all to make tool selection easier.
CoroMill® Dura is available with two to seven chip grooves with 1-4×D cutting length, with and without chip splitter. The finger milling cutters can be reconditioned to original specifications up to three times.
