RoboJob showcases innovative vision technology in first at Mazak

RoboJob, the international leader in CNC automation, is premiering its latest innovation: the "Pallet-Load Integrated" at Mazak's Open House event in Belgium. This avant-premiere will be the first official appearance of this product, which is equipped with pioneering vision technology based on artificial intelligence (AI).

The 'Pallet-Load Integrated' is an advanced further development of RoboJob's already existing Pallet-Load product line. The main innovations of this integrated version are reduced installation time and increased stability and customer-friendliness. The improved standardization ensures reliable and efficient operation, with safety features such as a light curtain, scanner and integrated fencing ensuring operator safety. This makes the system even safer, faster and easier to use. This product was developed specifically for small and medium series.

The optional vision technology is one of the most striking features of this new solution. For the first time, the robot gains "eyes" thanks to a lightweight camera that can recognize and pick up workpieces even when the workpieces are not manually positioned or placed on pallets with millimeter precision. This innovation not only offers customers more flexibility, but also saves them significant costs and configuration time.

"What really sets this innovation apart is the AI technology we developed in-house in collaboration with the AI & Robotics Lab at UGent. This allows us to solve an important problem within the industry: processing reflective materials without texture.", says Peter De Roovere, Head of Software & AI at RoboJob. "Until now, using reflective and textureless workpieces has presented difficulties in recognizing shapes and positions. Our new AI technology does away with this while drastically reducing setup and changeover times. It makes this product immediately usable for small and medium series, without any manual setup work."

An additional advantage of the "Pallet-Load Integrated" is the option to integrate the system with mobile robots. These robots can be used for the automatic loading and unloading of workpieces, providing further time savings and greater efficiency on the production floor.

The product will be officially launched in a few months during an event at RoboJob's headquarters, but will appear publicly for the first time at Mazak's Open House in Belgium from November 26 to 28, 2024. RoboJob invites everyone to come and discover the new technology for themselves during this event.  Registration is available on Mazak's website.
