The update to hyperMILL 2023 makes OPEN MIND Technologies AG's CAD/CAM suite even more powerful and brings innovative features. Not only does the software load faster, the calculation of tool paths has also been accelerated. The "General transformation pattern" function also saves time when processing recurring geometries. The new machining strategy of back drills achieves maximum comfort and safety by using VIRTUAL Machining technology.
OPEN MIND has hyperMILL 2023 equipped with a machining strategy for reverse countersinks. Control of tools for deburring and milling a countersink on the inaccessible back side of a hole can now be programmed very easily. Damage during tool insertion and retrieval is safely prevented as collision control is performed based on a 3D model of the tool in the virtual machine.
Until now, standard features such as rooms and holes could be selected automatically. Now OPEN MIND makes it possible to use the "General transformation pattern" function to select any reference geometry and have it search for the same reference in all other models - regardless of their orientation in space. This creates a general transformation pattern with a frame at each reference point. Thus, recurring shapes can be easily programmed with a single click. The function is also suitable for multiple setups, for example.
With the "5-axis form groove finishing" strategy, continuous toolpaths for form grooves, form channels and half pipes of any cross-section along a curved guide curve can be programmed very easily. This is a great advantage for users, as in the past this machining may have had to be done in several steps. This strategy opens up a wide range of applications, for example in molds and dies where the tool axis points in the direction of demolding.
The example of back drills and its collision control based on a digital twin shows how hyperMILL VIRTUAL Machining already plays a role in standard functions. Simulation technology based on real NC and machine data is becoming increasingly important. OPEN MIND promotes the necessary communication between CAM system and machine control. Currently, it supports hyperMILL VIRTUAL Machining controllers from HEIDENHAIN, SIEMENS, Mazak, FANUC, FIDIA, OKUMA, rödersTEC, D.ELECTRON, HURCO and Haas. More will follow.
CAD, CAM and the data
hyperMILL 2023 not only leverages advances in computing power and software technology to increase performance, but also streamlines processes. The hyperFor example, MILL SIMULATION Centre loads faster because it does not contain unnecessary data for the current calculation. The optimized data processing also proves to be an improvement in another area. hyperMILL now makes it possible to import individual components from assemblies. When importing assemblies from native data in other CAD systems, users can now use filters to select individual components. This reduces loading time for large assemblies, and the subsequent removal of individual components that are not needed is no longer necessary.
Another innovation in hyperCAD-S hyperCAD-S, the CAD portion of the software package tailored to the needs of CAM programmers, is revising the "Holes" feature. Holes can be arbitrarily composed and parameterized from a library of boreholes, countersinks and borehole ends via a preview dialog. To improve clarity, threads can also be displayed if desired.
