New website offers companies support on European Machinery Regulation

Starting today, companies in the machinery industry can visit a new, central website for everything they need to know about the European Machinery Regulation. This legislation, which enters into force on Jan. 20, 2027, replaces the current Machinery Directive and brings significant changes. The new rules are specifically aimed at improving safety, especially when integrating new technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics and software. The website www.platform-machineverordening.nl provides practical support and up-to-date information to help companies prepare for the new requirements.

What will change?

The European Machinery Regulation expands the definition of "machinery" to include digital components and software with safety functions. Additional conformity assessments apply to high-risk machinery. In addition, instructions and declarations of conformity can now also be made available digitally. The changes are necessary because the current Machinery Directive does not provide sufficient guarantees for safety in a rapidly changing technological environment.

How can companies prepare?

The new website helps companies make a smooth transition to the Machinery Ordinance. Visitors will find here:

  • Clear explanation of the new safety and health requirements.
  • Practical tools and roadmaps to adapt processes and products.
  • A calendar of events with upcoming meetings, workshops and seminars.
  • An FAQ section with answers to frequently asked questions.

The transition period until 2027 offers companies the opportunity to take timely measures. Both large and small companies can use the website to discover which steps are relevant to them.

Collaboration for a future-proof industry

The website was developed by the Taskforce Communication Machine Regulation, a collaboration of, among others, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, RAI Association, TNO, NEN, FME, Waternet, Koninklijke Metaalunie, DSC and other key partners. Thanks to this cooperation, the website offers objective and practice-oriented information.
