New 'Business to Society' report Siemens: social impact in six domains

For the second year in a row, Siemens publishes its "Business to Society" impact report. In it, the technology player provides an overview of its activities and initiatives with a social impact in six areas and in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The DEGREE framework forms the basis for a CO2-neutral business operations and supply chain and an ambitious starting point for key themes such as lifelong learning, ethical conduct and equality.

How is Siemens Belgium dealing with the societal challenges of today and tomorrow? How do we increase the quality of life of current and future generations? What role do technology and employees play in this? The 'Business to Society' impact report highlights the efforts of the technology player through six areas covering economy and society as well as environment and climate: cooperation and employment, talent development and sustainable employability, steering and supporting a changing society, improving quality of life, climate and environment and finally successful innovation. The report is peppered with examples of projects, partnerships and initiatives that show how Siemens is realizing this impact in mobility, industry, infrastructure and other sectors.

In addition, the report again this year creates a framework for Siemens' ambitious sustainability goals. These goals are aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals with which the UN hopes to end poverty by 2030, address climate change and ensure peace and prosperity worldwide. Siemens thus wants to set an example and also encourage its customers and suppliers to make their goals as ambitious as possible.

Every DEGREE counts

To test its efforts, Siemens cast its environmental, social and governance commitments in the DEGREE framework, which stands for decarbonization, ethics, governance, resource efficiency, equity and employability. Under the motto "Every DEGREE counts" and with a 360° approach, Siemens formulates several concrete objectives for each theme.

"Our environmental, social and governance approach guarantees responsible partnerships with honest partners," stated Sergio Molinari, CEO of Siemens Belgium-Luxembourg, "Siemens remains a game-changer as we engage customers, suppliers and partners from industry to academia. Our 'Business to Society' report shows how we are always striving to create sustainable added value for society and the economy in Belgium."
