Metalworking industry comes together: visit METAVAK 2024

The metalworking manufacturing industry is facing challenging times. Sustainability, digitization and automation are no longer futures, but indispensable elements in modern business operations. 

During METAVAK 2024, which takes place from October 1 to 3 at Evenementenhal Gorinchem, these themes are the focus of an extensive knowledge program. Here, topics such as Industry 4.0, lateral entrants and solutions to personnel shortages will be discussed in depth.

Smart technologies: the standard in production processes

Industry 4.0, the term describing the transformation within the metal industry, plays a central role during METAVAK 2024. Smart technologies that make production processes more efficient and flexible are revolutionizing companies of all sizes. Experts will offer daily insights into how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular can successfully embrace this transformation.

STODT, a technical business training provider, hosts daily sessions discussing the opportunities Industry 4.0 offers for the metalworking industry. A key topic here is the integration of lateral entrants, a solution to the growing labor shortage. The combination of digital technologies and well-trained lateral entrants can help companies not only work more efficiently, but also ensure continuity in their production.

Digitization for all: minimum cost, maximum impact

For many SMEs, the step to Smart Industry seems big and intimidating, but it doesn't have to be. Produmize and TNO are launching the third edition of the "10x ready for Industry 4.0" program during METAVAK 2024. In this program, they demonstrate how simple and affordable the transformation can be. 

"The move to Smart Industry does not have to be costly or complex," says Jeroen Broekhuijsen, CTO Smart Industry at TNO.

During their daily presentations in the knowledge theater, they share practical tips on how companies can make significant progress with targeted, simple steps.

This program offers companies the opportunity to learn how to optimize their processes with minimal resources. This allows them to not only remain competitive, but also grow in an increasingly digital marketplace.  

Labor recruitment in practice

Finding qualified personnel is an ongoing challenge in the metalworking manufacturing industry. During METAVAK 2024, several solutions will be presented to address this challenge. One of the highlights is a session on
labor market communications. In it, marketing experts provide practical tips on how companies can attract new talent in an accessible way.

In cooperation with Koninklijke Metaalunie Zuid-Holland, a Student Meet & Greet and a Job Fair will also be organized. These initiatives are aimed at connecting companies with potential new employees. The Meet & Greet in particular offers a valuable opportunity for students to get acquainted with the industry and their potential future employer.

What can you expect to see at METAVAK 2024?

Thanks to the wide range of booths and exhibitors from the metal industry, you will find a solution for every challenge. Whether CNC machines, laser cutters, robotic systems, CAD/CAM-
software or measurement instrumentation, everything is there. METAVAK is divided into various segments on the floor, such as sheet metal working, machining, 3D printing and cleaning and surface technology.

Welding Week Powered by NIL: the future of joining techniques

Simultaneously with METAVAK, Welding Week Powered by NIL will take place. This three-day trade fair offers a picture of the future in the field of welding, gluing and cutting. It is the platform in the Netherlands where all joining techniques come together.During Welding Week Powered by NIL, the Dutch Institute for Welding Technology (NIL) organizes together with the Belgian Institute for Welding Technology (BIL) a welding symposium. This symposium focuses on important developments in equipment, materials, research, working conditions, quality, economy, training and regulations. These welding technology theme days are intended for everyone who has to deal with welding and joining issues during his or her work, from process selection to quality aspects.
