Excellent visitor numbers, interesting leads for new projects...: the balance sheet of the past EMO looks particularly positive at Mazak. In total, visitors were shown no fewer than nineteen machines and eleven automation solutions at the booth. And although the booth occupied fewer square meters compared to the previous edition, the Japanese manufacturer welcomed just as many visitors. For those who could not be there, we would like to list the main eye-catchers.
The strategy for the EMO was clear: provide innovative and affordable solutions to the challenges facing the manufacturing industry across Europe. For Mazak, this meant new technology, plug-and-play automation systems, and best-in-class multitask solutions.
"For us, the fair was a success. That fewer visitors came to EMO was not apparent at our booth. We showed machine users what they wanted: practical solutions for the challenges they face every day. Our technology helps them to maintain their productivity and profitability despite rising energy prices and the shortage of skilled technical staff," said Bruno Munier, deputy European managing director at Yamazaki Mazak.
No shortage of highlights, at the booth. An interesting newcomer is the FSW-460V. FSW stands for friction stir welding. A process developed specifically to help meet the challenges facing electric vehicle and semiconductor manufacturers.
Of course, a new Integrex could not be missing either. The Integrex i-H series combines more than forty years of experience in multitasking. Versatility at its best, in other words. It was flanked on the booth by another first: the Ez Loader 30 cobot cell. This can process workpieces up to 18 kg and diameter 50 to 200 mm. In addition, the claws can be changed via the robot. An extremely flexible solution for today's production, where many smaller different series are under review. Another variant of the Integrex was also at the fair, namely the 'AG' version. This model is specifically equipped for the gear world (gear milling, unwinding and skiving ).
As mentioned, a total of 11 automation systems were shown. Mazak takes a two-pronged approach. Users have the choice of exclusive or third-party developed systems, so the best solution can be chosen for every type of machine user, from the smallest supplier to the most sophisticated production facility. The philosophy? Best-in-class automation technology combined with maximum operator accessibility and the smallest possible footprint.
However, not everyone needs high-end technology. In recent years, Mazak has also focused on developing entry-level machines. A good example is the CV5-500 five-axis machining center, an affordable stepping stone for workshops that want to take the step from three-axis to five-axis machining. Here, too, one can go for multi-batch production through automation combined with an additional 180 tool magazine.
Mazatrol's proprietary steering has been making a difference in the performance of Mazak machines for years. The latest innovation in that area? Mazatrol DX, which further extends the functionalities of the popular SmoothCAM AI to perfectly merge the Mazak portfolio with advanced technology in a rapidly digitizing world. Not only can the program be generated in a few minutes, a price can now be made instantly for the product.
