Pre-machining geometry for stainless steels

As a sales partner for the German market, Paul Horn GmbH presents the new high-quality tools from Austrian tool specialist Boehlerit. Innovations in carbide, coating and chip flow allow the development of a completely new generation of tools for the steel turning process. The alignment of these parameters has resulted in the steel turning types BCP10T, BCP15T, BCP20T and BCP25T, which are now available. The new Boehlerit steels offer high performance and machining reliability throughout the turning process. A specially developed chip breaker with a modified chamfer ensures high machine vibration suppression and process-safe chip flow. The newly developed AlTiN PVD coating stands up to high temperature and toughness requirements and offers wear recognition via its gold color. The PVD coating is particularly suitable for small parts, low cutting speed and frequent material entry.

Boehlerit expands the ISO turning program in the medium to heavy pre-machining range for stainless materials with the latest alternate cutting plate geometry "MRM". As a result, changeover cutting plate geometries are available for numerous application areas for stainless steels, which are adapted to the application. The new chip breaker "MRM" is an extension of the well-known "BMRS" geometry, which, although having a similar feed range, differs greatly in terms of micro-geometry due to the deeper chip angle. As a result, a reduction in cutting forces is achieved, from which both an improvement in process reliability and also an increase in tool life for high-hardness stainless steels result.
