Metal machining for a smarter future

Visit Sandvik Coromant at Machineering 2023

In March 2023, Sandvik Coromant, market leader in metal machining, will present a range of its machining tools and expertise at Machineering at the Brussels Expo in Belgium. The fair, dedicated to machines, tools and material solutions for advanced engineering and manufacturing, will take place from March 29 to 31, 2023. At the show, Sandvik Coromant will partner with machine tool manufacturer Okuma and at Okuma's booth, Sandvik Coromant experts will be available to demonstrate live Sandvik Coromant tooling solutions.

Machining 2023 offers machine builders, suppliers and service companies the opportunity to discover the latest innovations in machining methods, tools and materials and acts as an all-in-one meeting place for machining professionals to discuss some of the industry's most relevant topics. All aspects of machining technology - from conventional to hybrid to additive - will be on display at the show.

Okuma, one of many machine tool manufacturers exhibiting at Machineering this year, will showcase its MULTUS U3000 multitasking machine. As part of the showcase, visitors can watch a demonstration of Sandvik Coromant's tooling solutions for power skiving in the automotive industry. Machining methodology is essential for producing high-quality transmission components, especially as automakers increasingly produce electric vehicles. Sandvik Coromant offers a range of milling tools for forming those components, including CoroMill® 178, CoroMill® 180 and CoroMill® 17H PM-HSS.

In addition to the MULTUS U3000, Okuma's LB3000 EX II MY lathe will also be on the booth. On it, Sandvik Coromant will demonstrate its PrimeTurning™ machining methodology - a unique machining concept consisting of a machining method, tools and software that allows manufacturers to turn in all directions.

Sandvik Coromant will also demonstrate a brand new turning concept, launched in March 2023. Building on the innovations of PrimeTurning™, Sandvik Coromant will demonstrate its new Y-axis machining methodology. As the name suggests, the method uses the Y-axis and all three axes are used simultaneously in machining to help produce intricate shapes with a single tool. Finally, Sandvik Coromant will also exhibit its CoroPlus® Tool Path software for threading and OptiThreading™, which provides programming support for external and internal threading operations.

"It is very valuable to be able to show exactly how our tooling solutions support flexible, efficient and sustainable machining, live and on a range of machines," explains Ronny Booijink, MTS Project Engineer at Sandvik Coromant. "Our goal is to help make machining processes more sustainable, digital and productive, while improving our customers' bottom line. We have a range of technologies, both proven in the field and fresh from the R&D team, to demonstrate at Machineering and by partnering with Okuma we can really show visitors exactly how our tools and software products can reinvent metal cutting."
