Paul Horn GmbH shows the expansion of its disc milling system for slot milling. Horn offers the tools, depending on the diameter, in cutting widths from 0.25 mm to 1 mm from stock. Depending on the tool diameter, the maximum milling depth (tmax) is between 1.3 mm and 14 mm. Depending on the material to be machined, the cutting plates are available with different coatings. The solid carbide tool shank dampens vibrations during milling due to its mass. All tool shank variants are equipped with an internal coolant supply.
The disc milling system offers users several process advantages: it is fast, process-safe and offers good surface quality. Thereby, the tool controlled on the helix track dives into the material at an angle or very flat. Thus, for example, threads with reproducibly high quality can be produced. Compared to machining with insert cutters for larger diameters or VHM cutters for smaller diameters, a disc cutter is usually more cost-effective. disc cutters are suitable for many applications. They machine steel, special steels, titanium or special alloys. The precision tools are ideally suited for the processes of groove milling, circular milling, thread milling, T-slot milling and profile milling.
