hyperMILL-CAM-Innovations

CAD/CAM specialist OPEN MIND Technologies will participate in the TechniShow in Utrecht from March 12 to 15, 2024. Here, the company will present the innovative technologies of the hyperMILL CAD/CAM suite at booth B112 in Hall 12 of the Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs. Featured will be cutting-edge technologies for digital process chains, including connected manufacturing, automation, turning and additive manufacturing solutions. There will also be a preview of the upcoming hyperMILL 2024 version. To give visitors a glimpse of some of the many real-life applications of hyperMILL, they can attend live demonstrations.

The way a CAM system interacts with other IT systems such as MES, PLM or a tool management system is becoming increasingly important. Networking and communication without failures are the absolute minimum required to optimize processes within the context of digitalization. Visitors to TechniShow can see at the OPEN MIND booth what contribution hyperMILL and Hummingbird MES be able to contribute to digitized production. The integration of the CAM system with an MES, for example, allows for more agile and efficient planning, control and automation. All production-related data is available anywhere in the company at any time, and users benefit from a unified production management system.

Working with a digital twin

Bi-directional communication with machine controls is especially important when networking with other systems in the process chain. hyperMILL VIRTUAL Machining closes the gap between the CAM system and the physical machine environment. If the CAM software can work with a digital copy of the physical machining process, it opens up new possibilities for safely generating, optimizing and simulating the NC code. hyperMILL BEST FIT is an impressive example of this. It is a new type of alignment system for the finishing of cast, welded or additively manufactured components. Here the NC program adapts to what is physically happening in the workspace, instead of the fixture adapting to the NC program, which has been standard until now.

hyperMILL solutions for turning

OPEN MIND also brings the hyperMILL TURNING Solutions under the spotlight during the TechniShow. hyperMILL TURNING includes technologies for turning, turning-milling and milling and can therefore be used for all corresponding machine configurations. Automation solutions for making NC programs easier, faster and error-free in the turning environment are also part of the OPEN MIND demonstration.

Additive Manufacturing

In addition to hyperMILL TURNING Solutions presents OPEN MIND also hyperMILL ADDITIVE Manufacturing at TechniShow. hyperMILL ADDITIVE Manufacturing opens up the flexible possibilities of highly complex 5-axis simultaneous machining for the Direct Energy Deposition (DED) process and Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) process. NC codes can be easily programmed and automatically simulated to avoid collisions. As an end-to-end software solution, this enables efficient hybrid machining with additive and subtractive operations on one machine.

Machining examples to demonstrate functions

In addition to live demonstrations on CAM workstations, OPEN MIND will also present machining examples to showcase the software's wide range of features. The examples from industries in which hyperMILL particularly valued range from tool and die making to aerospace and medical technology.

Sneak peak of hyperMILL 2024

In addition to the current hyperMILL version visitors to the TechniShow will also get a first glimpse of the upcoming version. New features include hyperMILL TURNING Solutions and the efficient production of electrodes.
