Rittal is launching its new free-standing enclosures VX SE. The enclosures are an ideal intermediate solution for Rittal AX compact enclosures and VX25 bayed enclosures. The VX SE offers even faster assembly, easier configuration and greater safety, as well as unprecedented system compatibility. With a 300 mm deep enclosure variant, the VX SE also offers new application possibilities for installations where space is limited, for example, in the control of HVAC systems.
Although linkable switchgear enclosures are often used for individual installations, they are not always the best solution. When the enclosures are used as stand-alone solutions, individual free-standing enclosures such as Rittal's new VX SE offer numerous advantages over linked enclosures. They are used in many areas of industry and building technology. Typical areas of application include compact machines and systems whose power distribution and automation components are housed in a single enclosure.
The main features of the new VX SE cabinets are quick and easy assembly, particularly good protection against dust and dirt, great compatibility with accessories and the versatile nature of the cabinets.
Unlike paired cabinets with removable side panels, the freestanding VX SE cabinet has a one-piece sheet steel or stainless steel body. The pre-formed sidewalls and roof make ordering the cabinets much easier and faster. In addition, the side panels and roof are already conductively connected to the frame, which is an additional time saver because separate grounding of the frame is not required.
An installer using the free-standing VX SE enclosure with a width of up to 1800 mm also chooses a huge savings potential. Namely, this means that small coupling combinations of up to three enclosures can be easily replaced by a single enclosure. Seals, coupling accessories, mounting plates and multiple baseboard systems are then no longer necessary. This eliminates the need for major assembly work.
Increased safety is also guaranteed because, for example, there are no longer any gaps between the sides, roof and frame in which dirt can accumulate. The basic version of the VX SE features protection class IP 55, impact resistance IK 10, automatic potential equalization, high stability due to enormous torsional rigidity and a load capacity of 1.5 tons. For higher protection requirements when used in harsh environments, the enclosure is optionally available in an IP 66 and NEMA 4/4x version. Integrated gland plates in the base make cable entry into the high-density enclosures particularly easy and ensure ergonomic preparation for cable entry.
For applications in rooms where heating, air conditioning or ventilation are managed, Rittal offers its VX SE with additional dimensions in 300 mm depth. With this, Rittal is tapping into a new market as it can now install enclosures where space is limited. Installers benefit from the wide range of installation options, flexible cable routing options with the new modular cabling system, as well as individual and quick adjustments such as cut-outs in the enclosure.
Rittal makes the new free-standing enclosure VX compatible to continue to rely on the advantages of the linked enclosure system VX25. Thus, when switching to the VX SE, enclosure builders do not have to think about technology or assembly: everything remains the same. Because the bottom of the VX SE is now identical to that of the VX25, VX accessories for cable entry, such as gland plates or rails for cable strain relief, can be easily adopted and installed.
VX compatibility in interior construction is possible through the use of adapter rails that make it easy to mount, for example, the chassis, rail systems and partial mounting plates of the VX25 in the VX SE. Thus, the complete VX SE can be expanded with VX25 accessories. As a result, cabinet builders do not need separate interior accessories for the freestanding cabinet, but can use existing accessories.
With the VX SE, Rittal offers a clever combination of system enclosure and individual enclosure technology with a host of advantages that enable machine and plant builders to increase their productivity.
