SEPARATING STEEL SHEETS SAFELY WITH FAIL SAFE MAGNET

At the Technishow in Utrecht Goudsmit Magnetics (Stand 10.F035) will present a recently developed Fail Safe magnetic sheet separator). This ensures the automatic separation of steel sheets up to a thickness of about 4 mm. The separator is equipped with very powerful Neodymium magnets and can be pneumatically switched on and off using a new patented system. This switching is done quickly by twisting the magnets. The maintenance-free plate separator is the only one of its kind equipped with a spring-controlled off position. The extremely safe - hence the name Fail Safe - plate separator automatically switches to the off position even if the compressed air is interrupted. Even at full load of a maximum stack height. Even during maintenance, it is not possible for the magnet to accidentally remain switched on. This provides additional safety.   In contrast to fixed sheet separators, switchable sheet separators additionally allow intermediate change of products during a set process. It is possible to separate steel sheets of almost any shape, length or width. Even round or asymmetrical shapes. The permanent magnetic force does not decrease and is guaranteed for decades.

easy separation of stacked steel sheets and easy and safe pneumatic operation.

AUTOMATED PROCESSES

Magnetic sheet separators find their application in sheet metal processing industries and in robotized production cells for the production of welding assemblies, among others. Robots pick up large sheet metal parts with magnetic grippers and position them on a welding table. Because the steel sheets are oiled, they stick together and the robot sometimes picks up two sheets at a time. As a result, the second steel plate can let go halfway down the welding table and fall down . This causes a lot of damage in a high-tech environment, where the welding table is often equipped with sensors, transducers and actuators. Also, double insertion of two steel plates stuck together can cause major damage to a die. By using Neodymium sheet separators, the sheets are separated from each other despite the oil film after which the robot can lift them off the stack one by one. The Fail Safe sheet separator also has an optional on/off detection system.

PNEUMATIC CONTROL

Compressed-air operated sheet separators increase safety and reduce costs when destacking or changing a stack of steel sheets. The magnets separate oiled sheets but also do a good job when there is vacuum between the steel sheets. Or when the sheets are pre-finished or polished. Unlike fixed sheet separators, switchable sheet separators allow intermediate changes of products during a set process. When the top sheet is removed from a stack, the bottom sheet immediately takes its place. To replenish the stack of steel sheets, magnetic sheet separators can be easily switched off with a pneumatic valve. After unlocking the swing arm, the magnets rotate away, after which the stack of sheets can be easily exchanged or replenished.
