Fiber laser cutting technology for tube machining

Fiber laser cutting technology for pipe processing

Until now, many suppliers and OEM companies often focus only on machining flat sheets. As a result, they miss out on sales opportunities. With the ByTube 130 tube laser cutting machine, manufacturing companies can tap into new customer groups. For the area of application for processed tubes is diverse: The automotive and construction industry as well as furniture manufacturers or machine and tool builders are potential customers. You can make the most of this market potential with the ByTube 130.

The ByTube 130 is the optimal solution for sheet metal workers looking to expand their operations. The automated system reduces manual intervention to a minimum and thus makes entry into tube processing very easy. At the same time, the machine meets a wide range of needs: since 85 percent of the market potential lies in the small-pipe segment, the ByTube 130 is aimed at processing pipes with diameters from 10 to 130 millimeters. The machine has a load capacity of up to 17 kilograms per meter. With the 2D cutting head, 90 percent of all customer requirements can be met, as perpendicular cuts account for the largest market share.

Fiber laser provides pace and flexibility

The wide applicability of this machine provides users with the necessary flexibility for a wide variety of jobs. In addition, the ByTube 130 offers the potential to replace sophisticated and cost-prohibitive machining steps: more and more manufacturing companies are discovering tube laser cutting as an alternative to separately performed processes such as sawing and drilling. The fiber laser performs both operations in one, and significantly faster. Thanks to the clean cutting edges, deburring is also no longer necessary. This not only reduces the use of manpower. The higher production speed also reduces unit costs, which is a big advantage in the competition for the best price.

The ByTube 130 is available with fiber sources with powers of 2 or 3 kW and therefore have with excellent energy efficiency. In the flat plate laser market, fiber laser technology has already proven itself, now this process is also increasingly being used for thin and thicker material thicknesses in tube processing. Another argument for using the fiber laser is the consistently uniform cutting quality. And unlike a CO2-laser, the fiber laser has no problems with highly reflective nonferrous metals such as copper and brass due to its wavelength.

This allows users to benefit from three major advantages: material diversity, efficiency and cutting accuracy. Because those who can process diverse materials, meet tight delivery times and deliver consistently high quality in the process have a competitive edge.

Software turns beginners into professionals

Visualizing parts and models, creating cutting plans, monitoring production processes: modern sheet metal working is unthinkable without powerful software. With the new ByVision Tube operating interface, Bystronic brings together all functions for tube laser cutting on one touchscreen. Beginners do not need extensive experience to begin production on the ByTube 130. Setting up for cutting jobs is quick, and the interface is intuitive and easy to understand.

ByVision Tube builds on the proven Bystronic software ByVision, which Bystronic uses for all other cutting and bending systems. This also allows existing customers to get up to speed particularly quickly. New users are supported by the intuitive software when importing and creating cutting plans, making the operation of the cutting processes on the ByTube 130 particularly convenient. Whether for small series or large orders: thanks to ByVision Tube, users can produce and deliver machined parts quickly and efficiently after an order.

Innovative additional options

In order to guarantee simple operation and not burden beginners with superfluous functions, the developers have deliberately dispensed with bells and whistles in the basic equipment of the ByTube 130. Through additional options ("Laser Scan": high accuracy in all cutting conditions and "Quick Cut": more speed for better performance), ease of operation and production quality can be additionally and individually configured. Automatic weld seam recognition makes manual alignment of the base material unnecessary. Via a laser scan, the function independently recognizes and compensates for geometric deviations of pipes and thus guarantees the accuracy of cutting processes, regardless of the quality of the base material.

As a global provider, Bystronic also supplies the ByTube 130 laser cutting system in the "mirrored" configuration if required. This allows the customer to choose the optimal layout for his specific flow in his factory. The at first glance simple "mirroring" offers advantages: for example, loading and unloading zones are no longer in each other's way. This not only reduces logistics efforts, but also saves space and manpower. And thanks to faster production times, productivity is significantly increased.

Simple operation, extensive application possibilities and well thought-out options prove it: Bystronic knows what the user's needs are. The ByTube 130 unites intelligent machine design with leading cutting technology.
