Fast, correct and fully automatic sawing

The sawing department is a crucial area for many metalworkers. So too for family business Bontemps from Vilvoorde. With a Behringer, they resolutely opted for the Rolls Royce among sawing machines. For business manager Nicolas Bontemps the ideal choice to ensure the company's future.

It was Jean Bontemps who founded Bontemps in 1954 and gave his family name to the company. This is still honored 65 years later in Vilvoorde with grandson Nicolas at the helm. Nicolas Bontemps: "We have always evolved with the market over the years. That has always been our strength. In addition, we stand for short delivery times and the ability to think with the customer." The craftsmanship that Bontemps delivers finds its way into various sectors: windows and doors, façade construction, electronics but also mechanical engineering.

The extensive machinery and eight experienced employees can handle all operations: sawing, milling, drilling, tapping, welding, bending, cutting and pressing.

Sawyers keep production running

Meanwhile, automation has also seeped into the shop floor. Two cobots are responsible for loading the production machines. It proves that Bontemps attaches great value to having up-to-date machinery. "You have to constantly invest to keep up in terms of productivity and capacity. Otherwise, it becomes difficult to maintain your competitiveness." One of the most important areas in the company is the sawing department. "90% of what we produce comes from aluminum profiles that are sawn here, hence the Behringer Eisele VAL 560." So four automatic sawing machines ensure that work at Bontemps never comes to a standstill.

Only one option really considered: Behringer

Recently, a replacement of one of the sawing machines happened. "We process both stainless steel and steel here, but this sawing machine had to be able to handle heavier aluminum profiles just as well. In addition, we wanted one that was easy to program and operate." For Bontemps, the path to the ideal sawing machine always ran straight to Behringer and Promatt. "They have a reputation for providing the Rolls Royce among sawing machines, and they haven't stolen it. As a supplier, Promatt adds very good service to that."

An Eisele VAL560 has also been running at Bontemps since 2015.

Excellent technical advice

The new acquisition became a band saw machine HBE 321 Dynamic from Behringer. Toni Marques of Pormatt gave Bontemps excellent advice on what best suited his needs. Bontemps: "By choosing a weighted drive, for example, we can run faster for weighted aluminum cutting, without the machine being oversized for the other work. It has been running here since April and is fast, correct and fully automatic. So we can provide a better service to customers. She is not busy right now, but we also see it as an investment in our future."
