OPEN MIND offers integral software solution for CNC manufacturing. hyperMILL® VIRTUAL Machining virtually represents all process steps in CNC manufacturing.
With this, OPEN MIND closes the gap between the CAM system and the real machine environment. hyperMILL® VIRTUAL Machining provides an integral all-in-one system instead of different software solutions. It defines all steps virtually, and thus gives producers complete control over the manufacturing and programming process. This includes programming, NC code generation and optimization, NC code simulation and network interaction with the machine.
At OPEN MIND, the development of a reliable simulation solution starts long before the NC code. Here, the CAD/CAM developer relies on its own innovative solutions for an integrated system, with a strong connection between the generation and simulation of NC codes. The generated NC codes are extensively tested. They take machine limitations into account and are guaranteed to run on the relevant machines. All relevant process data are available in the simulation of the NC code, ensuring unparalleled accuracy and reliability.
OPEN MIND has provided hyperMILL® VIRTUAL Machining with three modules that provide the fusion of the virtual and real worlds. In the VIRTUAL Machining Center module, machining situations with the machine and controls in the real world are virtually rendered and simulated based on NC code. The CONNECTED Machining module enables in-depth network interaction and synchronization with the machine. The simulation software can thus recognize, for example, deviations from zero point or tool positions.
In the Optimizer module, powerful optimization algorithms ensure efficient multi-axis machining. The best solution for perfect machining is automatically identified. Users now approach CAM programming of gantry milling machines in the same way as programming 5-axis milling machines. Based on the machine's digital twin, the Optimizer automatically adds "rewind moves" required due to round and linear axis limitations or collisions. Unnecessary rewinds to safety positions between two machining steps with the same tool are thus prevented. When combining jobs with the same tool ("linking"), 2D and 3D machining steps are converted into smooth movements. Optimizer can also distinguish between pre- and post-processing operations.
HyperMILL® BEST FIT, the tool used to align parts intelligently and in real time in CAM, also enables more efficient and economical machining operations. The non-aligned part on the machine is scanned using a 3D measurement, after which the measurement points are sent to the CAM system in the form of a measurement report. HyperMILL® BEST FIT then adapts the NC code exactly to the actual position of the part. The adjusted NC code is then simulated in the virtual machine on the actual fixture situation and automatically optimized. The machine setter then performs a control measurement to ensure reliable and accurate machining. He can then start machining without having to align the part in the machine first. The advantages are enormous time savings, reliable machining and schedulable processes.
