Fast and reliable delivery of stainless steel in any alloy

For more than thirty years, Contisteel has specialized in the distribution of stainless steel. The company from Heusden-Zolder supplies stainless steel sheets, coils, narrow strip, seamless and welded tubes, bar material and all accessories. Since 2020, Contisteel has moved to new, larger premises to serve customers even better. The growth also symbolizes the evolution from wholesaler to service center where customized products, good service, fast delivery, good technical advice and a full range of products are key.

Since its inception in 1989, Contisteel has built up tremendous expertise in the international stainless steel market. The company supplies various sectors, from building, construction, tank building, chemical, automotive, transportation to catering. 

"Since 2012, we have belonged to the Amari Family. This international ownership assures our company of solid financial foundations. But at the same time, we maintain our absolute independence to make the required management decisions necessary for optimization. Thus, we moved 2020 to a brand new location to optimize our storage capacity and finishing capabilities," explains Erwin Theunis of Contisteel.

Machinery expansion

The in-house machinery has been greatly expanded. "Thanks to our new cutting line, we can deliver custom-made sheets in stainless steel, and this with any desired film. In doing so, we cut thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 3 mm, up to a width of 1500 mm." The new slitting line is used to deliver custom-made narrow strips in stainless steel with thicknesses from 0.6 mm to 3 mm, up to a width of 1,000 mm. "The combination of cutting and slitting makes it possible to produce - starting from a coil - any desired sheet in stainless steel. The investment in these two lines fits within our ambition to develop Contisteel into a distributor and service center for stainless steel. If the standard dimensions do not suit the customer's situation, we provide the necessary customization from our own workshop. In this way we can always guarantee extremely short delivery times for custom work. Custom work in limited volumes is also among the possibilities."

Grinding, brushing and protecting

For machining, finishing and protecting sheets in stainless steel, Contisteel has its own grinding and foiling machine in its machinery. "With the grinding line, we can grind any sheet in stainless steel to the desired grit, or brush (scotch brite), and apply any foil. We grind plates from 0.60 mm to 6.00 mm thick, up to a width of 1,500 mm and a length of 4,000 mm." Duo, the combination of grinding and brushing, is also among the options. "This allows us to achieve the desired visual effect."

And the foil line, finally, offers the possibility to apply any foil on any sheet in stainless steel, up to a width of 2000 mm. "We also offer numerous options for the choice of foil: white, easypeel, laser fiber, laser CO2... We are happy to give customers technical advice on this for the right choices, fitting within their wishes and needs. And if customers have other wishes, we can also deliver other dimensions quickly through good cooperation with our suppliers."

Smart inventory management

With well-equipped machinery, customer demand can be met, but fast delivery is also important to Contisteel. "This is why we have also invested heavily in this. Our new location has 6000 m² of ground area, for storage in optimal conditions. There we stock our stainless steel products in racks within an air-conditioned logistics area with a free height of up to ten meters. A strategic and well thought-out inventory management constitutes one of our main assets to ensure fast delivery."

Good service

Finally, Contisteel pays close attention to providing good service. "Every customer has a personal sales consultant, who makes regular contact and follows up each order from a to z. Thus, customers have a direct point of contact who bears full responsibility for the correct execution of the agreements made. We are not satisfied until our customers are satisfied."
