CUTTING SPEED CALCULATION
You can calculate the correct speed of a spiral drill with this formula:
n = (Vc x 1000) / (π x D)
The formula consists of the following elements:
The structure is actually quite simple. First you convert the cutting speed into millimeters, because the other figures are also expressed in millimeters (Vc x 1000). Then you calculate the circumference of the hole (π x D).
An example will quickly make this clear. Suppose we drill into unalloyed steel at a speed of 60 m/min and maintain a diameter of 30 mm, the result is 636 rpm:
(60 x 1000) / (3.14 x 30) = 636
