The market has long been looking for band saws with a longer tool life than the available bi-metal versions. Tungsten carbide is often a bridge too far for the application and also involves higher costs. Bahco fills that gap with the 3859 Easycut Xtreme Trimetal, the world's first timetallic bandsaw. This unique development is essentially a carbide saw, but since it is sharpened less, the production time is shorter and the price is significantly lower. The tool life is as much as twice that of bimetal.
"Our innovative development fills the gap between bi-metal and carbide saws, taking bandsaw technology to the next level. The 3859 Easycut Xtreme Trimetal is also universal in use in several ways, which significantly increases productivity and efficiency on the shop floor," stated Hans Heiden, Weldshops Director at Bahco. "It can cut with the parameters of bimetal saws, but in order to process many pieces in a short time, carbide values can also be set on the machine. Structural and low-alloy steels, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys and tool steels...: with the same trimetal band saw, both simple and more complex materials can be machined without problems. Titanium is an exception and does not belong to this list. Thanks to a new setting pattern, workpieces with diameters from 34 mm, even from 27 mm with an automatic, can be cut."
And there is more, because the saw has a longer service life than with bimetal. So it has to be replaced less quickly, reducing downtime and limiting the stock of saws. The user wins, because he saves time and money.
"Our new trimetal saw has already been tested for several months with several customers, and the vast majority immediately see the added value," concludes Heiden. "Those currently working with bimetallic saws should take a moment to discover the features of the 3859 Easycut Xtreme. For users who need continuous high productivity, though, carbide still remains the best choice."
