Electropolishing, micro-undulation, amorphization, desulphurization, micro-deburring, blasting, pickling and passivation ... These are just some of the finishes on stainless steel for which Packo Surface Treatment (part of Packo Inox and the Dutch Verder Group) is renowned. Packo treats both large and small parts, both new and used equipment and this for just about all niches - from small parts for aerospace and packaging to 100,000 l mixing reactors for polymers and paints. The main focus is on solving problems of cleanability, hygiene, bacterial and corrosion resistance.
Some examples of recent realizations by Packo Surface Treatment.
There are constantly great projects in the pipeline at Packo Surface Treatment. Electropolishing handrails and handles for swimming pools and outdoor applications, for example, is well in hand. In France, Packo Surface Treatment will sign for one of the largest stainless steel handrail projects ever - 1.8 km to be installed in Boulogne. Since 1974, hundreds of km of stainless steel handrails have already been electro-polished, both indoors and outdoors. For a French hospital equipment manufacturer, there is also an ongoing order for the electropolishing and amorphizing of their components: cleanability and hospital bacteria control are the focus there.
Since the recent contamination scandals in the food industry, the focus on more high-performance stainless steel finishes in the food industry is sharply increasing. Initially, several food companies are now having their used equipment treated to prevent risks of contamination. For meat processors and sauce makers, Packo Surface Treatment continuously amorphizes norm trolleys, funnels and other parts that come into contact with meat. Both tests and practice indicate much better resistance to adhesion of animal fats and better cleanability after amorphization. The presence of residual bacteria after cleaning is now reduced to zero with this amorphous surface.
The electrochemical desulphurization of work tables, carts, coatings, etc. is a constant order for suppliers to clean rooms and the semiconductor industry, especially in order to keep the surface and surrounding area perfectly dust-free. Various orders for micro-encapsulation against sticky powders are also ongoing: evaporators, piping, drying towers, dosing systems, drop tubes, funnels, etc. ...
Micro-ondulation works excellently against powder, flour and flour sticking. For starch processors, the electropolishing and amorphizing of hoppers and screw conveyor systems is by now well known. At last, the sticking of mashed potatoes and other starch mixtures can be perfectly avoided.
The possibilities for improving stainless steel surfaces reach far at Packo Surface Treatment. Both machine builders and end users can rely on the more than 45 years of experience in solving problems of corrosion protection, anti-sticking, sliding properties, hygiene and wear prevention.
