From September 16 to 21, it is the metal world's turn to demonstrate its in- novation potential and competitiveness. After all, EMO Hannover, the world's largest trade fair for metalworking technology, is on the program then. This year, the organizers chose the theme "smart technology driving tomorrow's produc- tion.
From September 16 to 21, smart design will be in the spotlight at the Hannover trade fair com- plex. The EMO brings the entire spectrum of metalworking technology together under one roof. This time the motto "smart technology driving tomorrow's production" was put forward. That the metal industry is just being looked at to show what the factories of the future will look like should come as no surprise. After all, metalworking is at the heart of almost every industrial production process. Those who manage to integrate intelligence into their production processes will be able to reap rewards in productivity, quality and flexibility. Three crucial factors for a company to safeguard its competitiveness in the metals industry. Machine learning is key in this process. With smart data and data analysis, process monitoring and optimization become possible, as does predictive maintenance. Those wishing to delve more deeply into these topics can visit the Industrie 4.0 zone and the Trend Forum "New Technologies - Future Opportunities," among others.
At EMO, visitors will get an overview of the latest machinery, efficient technical solutions, product-support services, sustainability in the production process and so much more. The main focus is on machine tools for cutting and shaping metal, production systems, high-precision tools,
automated product flows, computer technology, industrial electronics and accessories. As usual, visitors to the EMO will come together from all branches of industry in Hannover. The fair can therefore call itself the most important global meeting place for technology specialists. The previous edition in 2017 could count on 2,230 exhibitors from 44 different countries and around 130,000 professional visitors from 160 countries. According to the figures known at the time this piece went to press, the counter for the upcoming edition already stood at 2,107 exhibitors. Together they provide an exhibition area of 178,000 m2
The public will not only be able to marvel at the innovations on the exhibitors' stands. As always, the organization also has a whole host of special events in store. One to be sure to point out is additive magazine's Additive Manufacturing Circle. On the show floor, they have brought together the entire supply chain in additive manufacturing and applied it to key segments such as automotive, aerospace, mechanical engineering and medical technology.
Visitors can thus get a glimpse of what it might look like. The map of innovative start-ups is also being drawn in abundance. Young Tech enterprises brings start-ups together with EMO exhibitors and visitors. A forum, pitches, matchmaking and a networking event should help fuel further dialogue. In addition, there will be a start-up competition focusing on digi- talization of production.
