Rittal achieves new DNV certification for VX25 Ri4Power series

Low-voltage switching system meets all marine requirements

Power supply must be safe and fast, both on land and on the high seas. With increasing demand for ships, the number of orders is growing almost daily, and shipbuilding requires speed, safety and standardization along the entire value chain. With the new DNV certification for the VX25 Ri4Power, Rittal proves that its low-voltage switchgear system is suitable for maritime applications and allows users to meet industry requirements.

Everything begins and ends with a safe power supply, whether for smart cabins on cruise ships or insured supply for offshore installations on the high seas. Even before that, during ship construction at the shipyard, for example, speed and certified safety are what matter. The requirements for the industry are constantly increasing as the demand for new ships increases almost every day, driven by the growing number of orders for tankers and container ships. This trend demands efficiency across the entire shipbuilding value chain. That's where Rittal can help.

Safe, even on the high seas

With the new DNV certification for the type-tested VX25 Ri4Power switchgear and distribution system, Rittal proves that its modular system, which also simplifies the approval process for customer applications, is suitable for the world's oceans. Moreover, the data are available in advance for shipping.

The VX25 Ri4Power system also provides accidental arc flash protection and is certified to as much as 3,840 amps. In addition, users can now meet the requirements of the shipbuilding industry through a system solution based on the VX25 linkable cabinets and with coordinated system accessories.

Who or what is the DNV?

DNV, based in Bærum, Norway, is an international classification society and service provider of technical advice, engineering services, certifications and risk management. It is the largest ship classification society in the world. DNV-GL certification confirms the insensitivity of signaling equipment to vibration, shock and impact. As a result, it can also be seen as a quality label for products used in non-maritime industrial applications.
