Remmert Exists 75 Years

Remmert is 75 years old. Just after the end of World War II, Friedrich Heinrich Remmert founded his metalworking company in 1945 in Löhne, Germany. The start of a success story as it turns out, because today Remmert is one of the most innovative mechanical engineering companies, with as many as 42 customers in both the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as a broad network of customers in more than 30 other countries worldwide. On the occasion of this anniversary, the family business looks back on the various stages and successes it has achieved to this day.

"We make material flow": with this statement, the logistics specialist guarantees technically advanced material flow solutions that always keep an eye on the future. This development is no accident: the evolution from metalworking company to today's successful enterprise was accompanied by many obstacles and challenges, which have been overcome by the family business and which have made Remmert the company it is today.

From traditional crafts to industrial production

Remmert underwent a first major change in the 1960s and 1970s with the transition from handicraft to industrial production: as the new managing director, Friedrich Gottlieb Remmert reformed the company into a subcontractor for machine factories, focusing on steel and mechanical engineering and where special constructions were realized on customer request. The first fully automatic storage system for long goods was installed by Remmert in 1972.

In the following years, the product range and services were systematically expanded to be ready for the future and Remmert gained its first customers in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. In 1982, the first automatic storage system for metal sheets was installed, which is still in use today. For the first time, the system could be profitably integrated into the customer's logistics processes and directly connected to machine tools.

In 2000, Remmert opened a new administration building and in 2009 a new assembly hall in Löhne. In the following years, both the product range and international activities were gradually expanded, further strengthening the position as a logistics specialist. Especially with the introduction of the FLEX line, consisting of the LaserFLEX in 2008, the expansion in 2015 and the SortFLEX in 2019, Remmert laid the further foundation for the complete automation of, for example, laser systems, brand-independent integration and further future-proofing for customers.

Always a family

Meanwhile, Remmert has been a family business for three generations, managed since 1992 by Stephan Remmert and since 2000 by Matthias Remmert. There are also around 140 employees who make an essential contribution to the company's success and form an important cornerstone. Remmert has customers in more than 30 different countries: a number that continues to grow.

"Without our competent employees, our innovations and successes in logistics and automation and development over the past decades would not have been possible. Our employees are always highly motivated and form the basis for Remmert's success. As part of our 75th anniversary this year, we would like to thank all those involved, employees, customers and business partners for the good cooperation," say Matthias and Stephan Remmert, owners of Remmert. In the coming decades, too, the company plans to add further milestones to its extensive chronicle and will focus in particular on technologies of the future. Of course, looking ahead and with the strong family bond that characterizes Remmert.
