A business must continue to evolve. Anyone who stands still will eventually decline. JB Construct Betonstaal, a sister company of JB Construct Betonbouw and JMC Containerservice from Lier, recently invested in expanding its machinery with a new drilling line. In this way, the company can expand its range as well as further optimize efficiency and flexibility on the shop floor. The team of manager Bart Jacobs finally opted for a BRD-CNC LGT 12,000 mm CMA drilling line, delivered and installed by distributor The Tollenaere.
Bart Jacobs recently invested in a new CMA BRD-CNC LGT 12,000 mm drilling line for drilling and tapping steel profiles.
Since its foundation in 2001, JB Construct from Lier has developed into a major player in the concrete market in Flanders and Brussels. In addition to many private clients, the company is the permanent partner of construction companies, industrial builders, project developers, swimming pool constructors, garden contractors ... This usually involves customization with concrete poured on site. "To realize this custom work, but also our own assignments for concrete cellars, we needed reinforcing steel and so we decided to start up a workshop to manufacture this reinforcement in-house," says Bart Jacobs. "In the meantime, JB Construct Betonstaal has grown into a supplier of prefabricated concrete reinforcement, poutrels, gable supports, concrete nets and custom steel structures. To this end, we have extensive machinery for cutting, sawing, bending and welding workpieces, among other things."
The sister companies JB Construct Betonbouw, JB Construct Betonstaal and JMC Containerservice today have about fifty employees. The group of companies attaches the greatest importance to the quality of products and service, but especially to respecting the established timing. In order to expand the machining possibilities and thus carry out even more construction work as well as improve efficiency and flexibility on the shop floor, the construction company started looking for a suitable drilling line. They compared different systems and distributors on the market and finally chose De Tollenaere and a drill center from CMA, an Italian supplier of coordinate drills and tapping arms. "Just before the summer holidays, we delivered a CMA BRD-CNC LGT drilling line with a clamping table and an X-axis of 12,000 mm for, among other things, drilling, tapping, countersinking and engraving steel profiles from a minimum of 50 x 50 to a maximum of 610 x 1,000 mm, and that for single pieces as well as for small and larger series," explains Peter Wuyts, representative at De Tollenaere. "The profiles are clamped vertically and the starting point of the workpiece is automatically detected by a sensor so that, for example, the zero point can be automatically determined. This system is available in five versions with spindle speeds up to 5,000 rpm, a drilling capacity up to a diameter of 42 mm and a tapping capacity up to a maximum of M30."
The company has extensive machinery for cutting, sawing, bending and welding workpieces, among other things.
Meanwhile, the drilling line has already proven its worth on the construction company's shop floor. "Many a hole has been drilled since its commissioning and we are extremely satisfied with the speed, accuracy and degree of finish of this center," Jacobs states. "We have been working with The Tollenaere and have other machines from the distributor in our workshop. Since the cooperation was always optimal and you can always count on good service, it was obvious that we went with them for the purchase of this drilling line."
