Metal on a plate

Companies are increasingly looking for an external partner to take over certain steps in the production process. Stevens Punching from Ypres, for example, has for many years specialized in processing industrial sheet metal as a subcontractor for companies in a wide variety of sectors. Metaalvak spoke with manager Peter Stevens about his company, its activities and added value.

Why do clients choose Stevens Punching?

We have specialized in punching, laser cutting, bending, welding, painting and assembly of industrial sheet metal for over thirty years. We were one of the pioneers in the market and are still one of the trendsetters in this business today. We process both ferrous and non-ferrous materials, taken from our stock or supplied by the customer. Our customers mainly come from the world of logistics, mechanical engineering, agriculture and electronics, but companies from other sectors also call on our services. We focus mainly on processing thin sheet metal from 0.5 to 20 mm and this for single pieces and small series, but also for larger orders. An important asset is the unique capacity according to the format and size of the pieces to be machined.

You attach great importance to the quality of execution and workmanship?

We have built a good reputation over the years. A high degree of workmanship and the quality of our products and service play an important role in this. Thanks to a sophisticated 3D measuring machine, we carry out extensive quality control, enabling us to always deliver precise and precisely finished products. Modern, up-to-date machinery and skilled, driven employees are the perfect combination for success. In addition, we apply thorough planning and coordination and our production process is optimized by nesting, allowing us to carry out multiple projects in a short period of time and always strictly adhere to the established delivery deadlines.

What is the added value for your customers?

One by one, our customers are looking for a partner who can help them optimize their production process. They choose not to invest in the knowledge and machinery themselves, but to rely on an external partner with extensive experience for certain operations. At Stevens Punching, we can offer them a wide range of machining operations and use the most advanced machine technologies to do so. In our production facilities you will find several CNC-controlled fiber laser cutting machines, punching machines and bending benches for machining a wide variety of workpieces, small or large, light or heavy. We also have several semi-automatic welding stations and a welding robot. There is more, however, because in addition to machining the sheet metal, we can powder-coat the pieces. For this we use a modern spraying installation, and thanks to nanotechnology as chemical pretreatment, we guarantee perfect adhesion. Moreover, at a further stage we can assemble the powder-coated parts into a finished product. This completes the circle and allows us to offer our customers a project from A to Z. Thanks to our years of experience, we can think along with our customers and advise them on how to approach certain jobs to guarantee a perfect result.
