Metal as a silent force in the process industry

Metal as a silent force in the process industry

The process industry is on the move. Literally because everything revolves around transporting, mixing, dosing and moving substances. But also figuratively. Energy efficiency, digitalization and stricter safety standards put pressure on installations and their suppliers. One thing remains unchanged: no bulk processing without metal.

Behind every silo assembly, under every screening plant and in every dust collector is the work of welders, sheet metal workers, machinists and fabricators. It is precisely that invisible craftsmanship that determines the reliability of the system as a whole.

Retrieved from Solids Rotterdam 2025, on October 1 and 2 in Ahoy, this comes together nicely. The trade fair for the bulk and process industry traditionally attracts an audience of OEMs, system integrators and maintenance engineers - in short: exactly the parties who count on robust metal solutions. They are not only looking for quality, but above all for partners who think along with them in terms of hygiene, modular design and ATEX safety. Metal companies with expertise and a keen eye for practice.

Knowledge program for the metal industry

Among other things, that bridge is being built in collaboration with the Hygienic Design Network (HDN)., which sets the bar high during Solids in the Foodtech theater with topics including HDN welding certification, hygienic design and European food standards. It is an opportunity for metal companies to make their added value in the food industry visible. Not only through certificates, but also through conversations with the people who make the difference there.

For paint shops, grinding shops and machining workshops, the topic is process safety more current than ever. Solids features numerous solutions in the areas of ATEX, dust extraction, explosion protection and industrial air treatment. These systems help metal companies comply with stricter regulations around air quality, dust explosions and work environment.

"If you only look at safety at the end of the process, you are too late," says Hans van der Steen (HDN). "We need to make safety an integral part of the design and execution just like hygiene or sustainability." His vision is clear: best practices, objective standards and cooperation with regulators will ensure a structurally higher level of safety in the industry.

New this year: Energy in Processing Powered by ISPT

New on the exhibition floor of Rotterdam Processing Week, of which Solids is a part, is the theme zone Energy in Processing. Here you will find concrete technologies to reduce energy consumption, utilize waste streams and produce circularly. The zone is supported in content by ISPT and focuses on companies with a high energy demand such as the metal industry.
