Mazak shows overall vision for advanced manufacturing at EMO 2023

Yamazaki Mazak will present a total vision for modern manufacturing technology at EMO 2023 that enables machine users from across Europe to increase their productivity and profitability. Featured will be machine tools, laser technologies, live machining demonstrations, advanced software solutions and the latest developments in Smooth Ai control software.

Mazak can be found this year in Hall 15, Booth B14, and will display a total of 19 machines and 12 automation systems. Central to Mazak's vision is a focus on providing solutions to the key challenges facing manufacturing companies today. These include increasing productivity and profitability, workforce and skills shortages, high energy prices, wage inflation, increased competition and sustainability.

"Our theme is 'Discover More' and that's because our machines are more productive, more affordable and more durable than ever before. Our technology is more automation-friendly and we have service and industry-leading support packages that can provide more productivity," said Richard Smith, European Group Managing Director at Yamazaki Mazak.

Productive and affordable

As the main theme, Mazak is demonstrating entry-level machines that increase productivity, profitability and competitiveness at an affordable price. These machines are of particular interest to machine users new to Mazak technology. The entry-level machines, built in the United Kingdom and designed specifically for the European manufacturing industry, include the CV5-500 five-axis machining center and the new VCE-500 vertical machining center that combine high productivity with a competitive price. A high-performance turning center from the QTE machine series is also on display on the stand.

Automation is important solution

Automation systems to increase productivity and address the effects of skills shortages and rising wages are also an important part of Mazak's vision. On display will be a total of 12 integrated automation solutions capable of increasing machine uptime, increasing production flexibility, improving operator utilization and reducing costs - with the ultimate goal of increased ROI and profitability. Solutions at the booth include easy-to-program machine-operated robots and more advanced automation solutions to support the trend toward high-mix, low-volume production and the demand for five-axis automation.

Versatile offerings

Especially for fast-growing industries, such as e-mobility, Mazak is presenting new machining solutions. One of the highlights is the new FSW-460V, a hybrid machine designed primarily for automated friction stir welding while maintaining machining capabilities. Also on display is a new VCN-series vertical machining center equipped with the Mazak Ultraspindle for high-speed machining.

INTEGREX multitasking machines will also be highlighted at EMO.

Mazak's flagship machine is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, so Mazak is presenting the many variants that demonstrate INTEGREX's versatility. Several INTEGREX machines will be on the booth to demonstrate the productivity, easy automation and gear cutting capabilities.

Visitors interested in laser cutting can also have a great time during EMO. This is because Mazak is presenting the latest laser cutting technology with the OPTIPLEX 3015 NEO. This laser cutting machine is equipped with the latest beam forming technology and the MCT 3 cutting head with intelligent functions, including Auto Nozzle Changing and Auto Focus Distance.

Digital solutions

An important theme in the manufacturing industry is digitalization and process optimization. Especially for this theme, Mazak will present the new digital service iCONNECT and the Machine-2-Mazak (M2M) subscription service. iCONNECT offers existing Mazak customers a package of free services, including product manuals and e-learning. The M2M services enable better machine monitoring, as well as proactive maintenance strategies, including remote support to detect problems, remote optimization of machining processes for increased productivity, and access to Mazak applications, project engineers and service operators.

Sustainability is not lacking

Environmentally conscious manufacturing is also a key theme with a focus on practical technologies, including energy dashboards and digital services to help machine users measure energy consumption and reduce carbon impact. The booth also features machines designed to meet the company's 2030 goal of environmental efficiency that is four times that of their 2010 machine equivalents.
