'The pipe bending machines in our range take quality to the next level'

Th. Wortelboer BV, specialized in the supply, rental, repair and maintenance of machines and tools for welding pre-treatment and finishing, among others, has expanded its product range. Recently the pipe bending machines of PBS, part of Tracto-Technik, have been added to the portfolio. Jeroen Wortelboer, responsible for sales at the family-owned company discusses the features and benefits of these machines.

Th. Wortelboer BV now exists almost 80 years. "Theo Wortelboer founded it as an import company for a wide range of produc-ons including flanges of steel and stainless steel. In the 1960s entrance tools and mobile pipe chamfering machines were added to the portfolio. This gradually led to the specialization in machines and tools for producing piping systems," Jeroen Wortelboer says. This specialism continued to expand in the years that followed, from equipment and tools for pipe and plate machining to pipe end processing machines. "We do everything we can to provide our customers with the right machines. This is why we also develop and produce a number of machines ourselves such as the PPE, TPP machine, special pipe sawing machines or machines that are specially custom-made on customer request."

Several advantages

Since the end of 2024, Th. Wortelboer has also been an importer of pipe bending machines from Pipe Bending Systems (PBS), part of Tracto-Technik. "Pipe bending machines offer several advantages. They provide precision and repeatability. Especially CNC models, provide precisely bent pipes to exact specifications. Machines guarantee the same high quality with every bend, which is essential for series production. In addition, their use leads to efficiency and cost savings. They can bend faster and more consistently than manual methods, reducing labor costs while also reducing material waste. Finally, these machines are capable of bending a variety of materials and diameters."

Versatility

The wide range of pipe bending machines from PBS (Tracto-Technik) can be divided into three categories: the Tubomat mobile bending machine stations, the Tubobend semi automatic bending machines and the Tubotron CNC bending machines. Wortelboer discusses these in more detail. The Tubomat is a versatile pipe bending machine designed specifically for customizing hydraulic pipes. It combines modern technology with ergonomic design and offers functionalities such as bending, sawing, deburring, cutting ring assembly and flanging/flaring. A major advantage of this machine is its modular design so that it can be easily adapted to specific production requirements. It is especially suitable for applications where precision and efficiency are essential.

Semi-automatic

The Tubobend is a semi-automatic pipe bending machine designed specifically for bending pipes with high accuracy and efficiency. Says Wortelboer, "With the tubobend series machines, the bending function is automatic, while pipe feeding and pipe prototyping between two bends must be performed manually. They are therefore useful for single and small series production, for adjustment and maintenance work or as mobile bending machines on construction sites."

CNC

The CNC pipe bending machines of the Tubotron series are suitable for series production and flexible individual production. "They use modern control technology that allows them to bend even complex pipe shapes with minimum lead times and maximum precision. Operation is via a Simatic Panel PC or a Simatic Operator Panel. The series is equipped as standard with a remote maintenance interface for machine control. Several models of each type are available so that the right choice can be made for each application. With a carefully selected selection of high-quality products, we aim to take the quality of our customers' work to an even higher level. Participation in Machineering
