On the occasion of its 5th anniversary, De Kuurnse Linum Foundation vzw organized a successful benefit evening on Thursday evening, September 12. This took place in the beautiful accommodation of the brewery Sint-Bernardus in Watou. The Linum Foundation was founded from an idea of the Kuurn entrepreneurial family Vanderbeke to financially support young people, and their families, struggling with an orphan disease. An orphan disease is a rare disease for which the health insurance fund does not intervene. The entire board of directors of the Linum Foundation always tries to help these families through personal contact. In recent years, several young people such as Guillaume (eye disease), Maithili (tumor), Joeri and Robin (traffic accidents) and Sofia (PID) have already received financial support for their expensive treatments.
For the fifth anniversary, we were looking for an umbrella project to help not just one, but several children. Hellen Vanderbeke of the Linum Foundation : "From our intention to help several children, we quickly ended up at the non-profit organization SuperKrachtig Lekker, which focuses on the nutritional aspect and a balanced eating experience for children fighting cancer. The SuperKrachtig Lekker initiative was born out of Kim Milants' own course to follow with her daughter Jasmijn." SuperKrachtig Lekker wants to assist pediatric cancer patients (and/or children with orphan diseases, who are treated on the same ward) in their fight by offering healthy, freshly prepared and tasty food during their hospital stay. Among other things, the non-profit organization collects funds for a kitchen on the children's ward of UZ Gent.
At the benefit evening, the Linum Foundation was able to welcome more than 320 guests and a check worth 16,500 euros could be handed over to Kim Milants of the non-profit organization SuperKrachtig Lekker. The Linum Foundation is grateful for the many support it received from sponsors, attendees and supporters alike to make this donation possible.
"With the event, the Linum Foundation asbl emphasizes its ambition to directly help people with financial difficulties due to (orphan) illness. For concrete requests or projects, we can be reached at foundation@linum.eu. The Linum Foundation is also officially registered on goededoelen.be. Support to the Linum Foundation, directly or through an action in the context of the Warmest Week, for example, is always welcome." concludes Hellen Vanderbeke.
