Inspiration through Innovation 2021, the virtual event for best practices in manufacturing

On Wednesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 22, the annual Inspiration through Innovation event, organized by Seco Tools and industry partners, will focus for the first time on precision manufacturing in the medical sector.

"Precision medical manufacturing is common in different regions around the world. Therefore, we aim to provide an excellent customer experience by running the five-hour program three times in two days for three different time zones: Europe, Americas and Asia Pacific," said Lahoucine Akechtabou, Sales Manager and Global Medical Manufacturing Lead at Seco Tools. "To make it even more accessible, the content is available in English, French, German and Mandarin."

ITI demonstrates the value of collaboration in the pursuit of innovation in manufacturing by demonstrating collaborative solutions to component manufacturing challenges. "Together with our partners, we have created a program of demonstrations and seminars to inspire our attendees," said David Magnall, Innovation Partnerships Manager at Seco Tools UK. "Any company can offer incremental process improvements on its own, but by working together with machine tool manufacturers, CAD-CAM programmers, simulation experts, coolant suppliers and metrologists, Seco Tools aims to improve production or reduce costs for our customers by 50% or more. ITI provides great examples of this."

At Medical ITI, participants will learn through a collaborative approach to solve common problems in precision manufacturing with orthopedic components such as a tibia shell, femoral knee, bone plate, hip socket, hip stems and rasps. 1/2 These machining demonstrations will be complemented by seminar presentations on the major issues facing medical manufacturers: additive manufacturing and related inspection technologies, how the medical manufacturing segment can help bridge the technical skills gap, overcome interruptions in manufacturing processes and much more.

Inspiration through Innovation (aka ITI), is now in its eighth year and in the past the focus has been on general engineering or manufacturing in the aerospace industry. In October 2020, Seco Tools and partners organized the first-ever virtual ITI, completely online, making it accessible to participants from all over the world.
