Companies often have a good idea for a machine or tool. However, it comes down to turning that concept into a functional end product. Submentum specializes in machine building. This young and innovative company from Menen listens to the customer's ideas and wishes, translates them into a concept, which forms the basis for the production of a new system. In cooperation with Plasma Solutions, the company recently developed and produced the Taurus, a compact cutting machine based on the new Kjellberg Cutfire 100i, a plasma source for efficient plasma cutting with air.
Submentum is a young and innovative company that focuses on custom mechatronics and mechanical engineering. "With our technical knowledge, our experience and our feeling for technology, we translate customers' ideas and wishes into a functional end product. Through a structured working method and good communication with customers, we always guarantee them a qualitative solution that fully meets their needs," says Managing Director Dieter Hoornaert. "Each project starts with a conversation with the customer, in which we gather as much information as possible about the needs and requirements. Based on this, we work out a concept, which takes into account the functionality but also the associated costs. Once that concept is approved by the customer, the final production and assembly of the machine is started."
Submentum's portfolio already includes many solutions for the most diverse projects: robotization, pick-and-place systems, fully automated packaging machines, handling solutions ... to name but a few. The company has also developed and produced high-end mid-end plasma cutting tables, such as the Tiger 100, for various projects. For these too, we look for an appropriate solution in close consultation with the customer," Hoornaert indicates. "This is how we arrived at a compact plasma cutting table with a highly modular design: Taurus. We also integrated our own control system. We found a suitable cutting source at Plasma Solutions. In order not to have to compromise on cutting quality and flexibility compared to mid-end machines, the new Cutfire 100i from Kjellberg was integrated. This plasma source uses air as a gas to cut efficiently."
The new Taurus is a compact cutting machine equipped with Kjellberg's new Cutfire 100i plasma source.
The CutFire 100i with eddy gas torch Flash 101 is ideal for simple automatic plasma cutting applications. The eddy gas not only cools the torch but also stabilizes and concentrates the plasma arc at the same time. Thus, that eddy gas ensures a right-angle cut, better cut holes and reduced wear on consumables. The result is a longer lifetime, a higher cutting speed and thus a lower cutting cost per meter. "With the Flash 101, eddy gas technology is now also available for plasma cutting with air and thus at a very low investment cost," says Jan van Overbeeke, Managing Director of Plasma Solutions. "With only one type of gas, material thicknesses up to 30 mm can be cut. This torch is also suitable for cutting at an angle (up to 30°), marking and piercing, without the need for additional tools or software."
The team at Submentum remains committed to turning a wide variety of ideas into innovative solutions. "We are extremely satisfied with Kjellberg's plasma technology and Plasma Solutions' service," Hoornaert concludes. "They think along with us fully to find a suitable solution for each type of plasma cutting table. In addition, they offer fast and reliable service for any question."
