From micro to pico, Precision Fair for 20 years the place to meet and share knowledge

On November 10 and 11, 2021, Mikrocentrum is organizing the 20th edition of the Precision Fair. 320 exhibitors - a record number - and visitors will then be able to meet again in a long time, learn from each other and catch up on the latest trends and developments within precision technology.

From micrometer to picometer20 years of Precision Fair is 20 years of technological progress through meeting, collaborating and sharing knowledge.

For organizer Mikrocentrum, the anniversary edition of the fair is special for several reasons. Bart Kooijmans, manager Precisiebeurs: "Corona made sure that we could not organize a Precisiebeurs in 2020 and that is exactly why all exhibitors, visitors and other people involved are looking forward to this edition enormously. Finally we can really look each other in the eye again and, as we are used to at our fair, catch up together about the trade, learn from each other's experiences and be inspired by the contributions of our speakers and knowledge partners. This fair brings together the entire chain around precision technology."

Fascinating

Corona also made sure that the fair had to be a bit more spacious, so that for this edition it will no longer take place in the Veldhoven Koningshof, but for the first time in the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch. What remains the same as all other years is the unique opportunity to be completely up to date with all developments within the sector in a short period of time, says Bart Kooijmans. "Precision technology is all around us - in smartphones, mechanical engineering and medical technology - without being visible to the outside world. This is something that continues to fascinate all those involved in the fair immensely. Without this technology, the world would be nowhere. In recent times, moreover, the industry has made great strides to become even more compact and precise. It went from micrometer to picometer, and the demand for even smaller measurements, fabrication and construction kept rising - and still does. Hence, we are incredibly proud to have once again put together a great program so that all exhibitors and visitors will be completely up-to-date when they leave the show."

The great importance of precision technology for our rapidly changing society is the leitmotif of this exhibition. Precision technology has rapidly become the stable basis of many devices and components around us. As the annual meeting point for the industry, the Precision Fair has grown with all these developments over the past 20 years. However, the limit has not long been reached. Meeting, collaborating and sharing knowledge are indispensable for innovation and economic growth.

Highlights from the program

The program on Nov. 10 and 11 includes 50 lectures and 2 keynotes, an international Meet & Match, a Big Science congressional program, the presentation of the Wim van der Hoek Award and Ir. Davidson Award by DSPE and a comprehensive Young Talent program. A central part of the trading floor is set up to focus on the highlights of the last 20 years, but just as important, of course, is the future.

The next 20 years

The anniversary edition features the theme Precision technology, the next 20 years. The current and rapidly changing circumstances are a topical subject in this, which will be visible at various moments during the fair. The partner country this time is Belgium, with extra emphasis on developments in that country.

The international science agenda becomes visible during the Big Science tracks; all the projects where government investment and interesting tenders are to be expected pass by here. Speaking of international weight: the European Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology EUSPEN and a delegation from research institute CERN are present, as are the experts behind the Einstein telescope, Nikhef, ITER, SRON and DIFFER. Keynotes will come from Jelm Franse (ASML) and Professor Kai Cheng (Brunel University London).

320 exhibitors

At the Precision Fair, visitors will meet more than 320 exhibitors. They represent a wide range of specialties, including precision mechanics, motion-control, precision machining and tooling, mechatronics, optics, measurement technology, surface technology and system supply.

"The importance of precision technology as a foundation for the knowledge economy and our technological progress cannot be underestimated," Bart Kooijmans summarizes the purpose of the fair. "All this only succeeds thanks to cooperation in the entire chain of suppliers, manufacturing companies, knowledge and networking institutes and government. When you bring people together the most beautiful things are created. The Precision Fair has been facilitating this for 20 years. We are already looking forward to the next 20!"

Cooperation partners in the Precision Fair are Province of North Brabant, DSPE and EUSPEN. All activities on and around the fair floor are set up under the highest possible safety standards.

Admission to the Precision Fair is free. Visitors can register in advance via precisionfair.com register.
