Digital solutions guarantee efficient use of materials, resources and increasingly scarce technical personnel. A message that also applies to all aspects of joining, cutting and surface treatment. This edition of trade fair Schweissen & Schneiden, from September 11 to 15, will therefore take place under the motto "Get connected - Get digital.
Exhibitors on the show floor in Essen will also be connected in a rally, through an app. This software guides visitors to the various booths where they can learn more about specific applications of digital solutions. "Together with the IndustryFusion Foundation and the DVS (Deutscher Verband für Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren e.V., the German Welding Association), we are making digitalization a tangible experience," Christina Kleinpaß, project manager of Schweissen & Schneiden, already looks ahead with satisfaction.
Exhibitors who participate in the rally and show what digitization has to offer can be easily found by visitors through the app. In addition, by using the app, they can have the chance to win attractive prizes. "Digitalization in welding technology provides a functional fusion of production processes and information technology, of innovative, digital welding training and advanced training. The rally is therefore an excellent opportunity to discover a new level of workflows and business processes," said DVS managing director Dr.-Ing. Roland Boecking.
The impetus to highlight digitization solutions during Schweissen & Schneiden came from the IndustryFusion Foundation. This association focuses on intelligent networking of the manufacturing industry. Chairman Igor Mikulina looks to the future: "Digital solutions in welding and cutting technology have the potential to take productivity to a whole new level of efficiency. Against this background, our non-profit organization, together with DVS and Messe Essen, wants to focus on the concrete added value created by digitized product solutions."
But of course Schweissen & Schneiden has much more to offer than just a look at digitization. Know-how and the exchange of knowledge, for example, will take center stage at the DVS congress. Attendees can learn about best practices and the latest findings of ongoing research projects in these lectures. At the fair, the association will also present the finals of the "Young Welder" competition. The best welders from Germany with an age between 16 and 23 years will show visitors their skills.
Furthermore, visitors can expect some special zones. For example, the field of underwater technology is becoming increasingly important. Anyone looking for more information about this can visit Hall 7. There will be a diving container in which experts will demonstrate sophisticated welding techniques and related materials. Those looking for products and services from a particular country, on the other hand, can visit the international joint booths. Among others, China, France, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the United States are signing on to be present.
One last booth worth mentioning, and thus worth visiting, can be found in Hall 3, where the Young Innovative Companies program provides a stage for German start-ups to introduce themselves to the general public in a budget-friendly way. Anyone interested in new ideas and future-oriented solutions should stop by there.
