It is with great sadness that we report that Baron Robert Dewulf, one of the founding fathers of LVD, passed away Thursday evening, Aug. 11, at the age of 93.
As one of the driving forces, the "D" in LVD, he contributed significantly to the success of the company he helped build in 1954 alongside Jacques Lefebvre and Marc Vanneste. The three directors were particularly complementary with Mr. Dewulf acting as a bridge builder to both politics and business. Thanks to his efforts, LVD earned a reputation as a respectable manufacturer and good employer in the region.
Under his impetus, LVD grew into an international company. His entrepreneurship and vision for the future decades ago put LVD on the map as an innovative player in the global marketplace.
Even though he had been retired for many years and had passed on the torch to the younger generation, he remained genuinely committed to the fortunes of the company until the very end. If at all possible, he still enjoyed coming to the company and still showed a great interest in the latest products and developments. He loved getting to know the new people in LVD but also remained very concerned for the welfare of all other employees of the company. He will be sorely missed.
