Just a little more patience and the time has finally come, after more than four years: on August 30, Peter Wennink, CEO of ASML, and Theo Henrar, president of FME, will open the 2022 editions of TechniShow and ESEF Maakindustrie. Expectations among the organizers are high and numerous regular exhibitors are signing up to be present. After all, this duo event is synonymous with six halls of innovation, as well as live demonstrations, educational sessions and workshops, a 3D printing plaza, guided tours, the Chain Theater, the Innovation Theater, a Formula 1 simulator and tire-changing competition, the Innovation Awards....
Trade association FPT-VIMAG, brand owner of the show, and Jaarbeurs Utrecht are organizing the first edition of TechniShow - and ESEF Maakindustrie - in the post-coronation era and also chose to put it on the agenda just after the summer vacations. This requires a somewhat different approach, as the market initially reacted rather skeptically and doubts arose here and there as to whether it would turn out well. But TechniShow is and remains the unique platform for industrial production technology in the Benelux, where visitors can keep abreast of all trends and innovations within the manufacturing industry at a glance. In the meantime, numerous regular exhibitors confirmed their participation and new applications are coming in daily.
Although some regular exhibitors book a smaller booth space, halls 7 to 12 of the Royal Jaarbeurs Utrecht will again be well filled. The organizers already reworked their exhibition plan. The entrance will be in Hall 8 (ESEF in Hall 10). At Halls 9 and 11 there will be opportunities to walk over from one fair to another. Hall 7 focuses on sheet and tube machining and joining technology, while Hall 8 covers surface technology, sawing, drilling and conventional machining, and workshop and assembly technology. Via Hall 9 around machine tools, one arrives at topics such as 3D printing, measurement technology & vision in Hall 11. Part of that hall is also the mecca of CNC machines, and this continues into Hall 12, which also focuses on product automation. Visitors can therefore plan their route in advance, but on August 31 from 11 a.m. they can also opt for a formula with Guided Tours around the themes of Production Automation (Henk van Beek - TechniShow Magazine), Machining (Tom van der Meer - MTL MetaalMagazine), Sheet Metal Processing (Eric Weustink - Metaalnieuws) and 3D (Franc Coenen - 3D Print Magazine).
However, TechniShow and ESEF are more than just a showcase for new products. After all, during four days there are also many other interesting activities. For example, 3D printing or additive manufacturing will also receive extra attention during this edition, with a Technology and Process Square as well as a Theater.
There is also a real first, as the very first 3D printed booth is at TechniShow. The 3D theater will delve deeper into the possibilities of 3D printing. Every day, four speakers will zoom in on topics such as product design for additive manufacturing, 3D printing versus injection molding and industrial 3D printing. The emphasis here is on both software and hardware, and both research field and practice. Some exhibitors there will showcase their 3D printing technology, while others will highlight the various steps of the additive manufacturing process.
The Chain Theater, organized by BLMC, is the place to be for sessions around some of the key current issues facing manufacturing companies. These include how to deal with rapid growth and then how to make sure your people, processes and systems can keep up with the growth. The speakers will also talk about optimizing business processes to increase efficiency and successfully combining the processes of different companies after an acquisition or integration. Finally, there will also be a focus on Smart Manufacturing and how companies can deal with sudden, violent changes, for example due to a pandemic or war.
In turn, the speakers in the Innovation Theater will emphasize three themes that are closely intertwined: smart industry, workforce & labor, and sustainability & circularity. Experts there will explain, for example, what is needed in the short and longer term for the manufacturing industry to flourish.
Or how to get started with smart industry. You will also get an answer to the question of how to grow despite a shortage of personnel and how a company can take the step towards circular entrepreneurship. Experts from ING and TNO, among others, will share their knowledge and frontrunners like Damen Shipyards Group will tell which steps they are taking to future-proof their operations. Those in the mood for a bit of 'fun' in addition to the business aspect can get behind the wheel of a Formula 1 simulator to race or challenge another visitor to a race to change tires on Formula 1 cars. The fastest one goes home with a prize each day.
The organizers still have a lot of work ahead of them, but look on no effort to provide exhibitors and visitors with the necessary support. For example, a handy app was launched that makes it easy to navigate the show floor using six blocks - exhibitors, visitors, program, speakers, product news & info and my event. As a visitor, this allows you to prepare your trade show agenda, make appointments with exhibitors and other visitors, register for certain sessions, and even learn about some of exhibitors' innovative solutions in advance.
PROMATT
Sawing 3D printed pieces
3D printing or additive manufacturing is gaining ground in almost all industries. Steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel alloys...: whatever material your 3D printed pieces are made of, you can cut them accurately and efficiently with the Behringer HBE 320-523 3D and the LPS-T 3D. For large products, the vertical LPS-T 3D is the right machine. Because the machine table is freely accessible, it can easily be loaded with a crane. Especially when cutting materials that are difficult to chip, the servo-controlled saw feed offers a precise and controlled cutting process. A pleasant bonus is the high cutting performance and long service life of the band saw, which reduces operating costs. By the way, both saws are equipped with squareness monitoring, allowing them to work within close tolerances. Various systems are available for clamping and positioning the base plate. In addition, the LPS 3D can be equipped, among other things, with an extraction system for fumes and dust and a filter system for the coolant. In short, the HBE 320-523 3D and the LPS 3D are complete and well-developed machines that serve a wide variety of applications.

HERMLE AG
Digitization 'meets' automation
For Hermle AG, TechniShow is and will remain the trade fair in the Benelux for innovative industrial production technology. They are already pleased to be able to showcase their full range of products again after a long period.
As in many other companies, the combination of automation and digitization is taking on an increasingly prominent role at Hermle. However, the manufacturer keeps in mind the customers at all times, who come with the most diverse questions. It is precisely in the growth sectors with extensive automation that Hermle is most often confronted with Industrie 4.0, Smart Factory and the digitization of products. At the TechniShow, the manufacturer is showing several solutions in the areas of automation and digitization. Above all, they strive for easy integration of automation solutions in applications and sectors where, until today, these processes have been little dealt with and have not been a concern. TechniShow will be successful for Hermle if they can speak to many visitors, distribute information intensively and discover new projects.
Q-FIN
Sanding and deburring machine pushes multiple technological boundaries
With its new F1200XL, the Dutch Q-Fin once again confirms itself as an innovative pioneer within the industry of deflashing and sanding machines. This had not escaped the jury of the Technishow Innovation Awards either, and on June 2, 2022, the machine was nominated for an award within the Smart Manufacturing category. Already a great recognition, knowing that a total of just 13 innovations were nominated at the technology fair.
THE F1200 XL IN A NUTSHELL
With deburring, rounding and finishing, the machine combines three basic functionalities in one fell swoop, over a passage length of barely two meters. This is thanks to the four processing stations: a sanding belt for deburring, followed by the brush unit with four crosswise oscillating brushes for rounding, and another sanding unit for applying a final finish. The control and adjustability is quasi total, with in addition the full-option provision of automatic height adjustment on the brush motors and grinding belts, ensuring a consistent finish on the product. The innovative software solutions, combined with seventeen software-controlled motors, also make the machine completely Industry 4.0 ready.
