Countdown to EMO Hannover has begun

Keys to industrial production: digitization and sustainability

In early July, EMO Hannover organizer VDW - the German association of machine tool manufacturers - gave a preview of what we can expect from Sept. 18 to 23. "Under the motto 'Innovate Manufacturing,' this year we will focus on three megatrends: The Future of Business, The Future of Connectivity, and The Future of Sustainability in manufacturing. The idea is to show that manufacturing technology is not only about the experts, but that the entire industry is taking responsibility to respond to the most pressing challenges of our time. And that is precisely what our exhibitors are showing with their technical solutions at the fair," says Dr. Markus Heering, executive director at VDW.

The Hannover fair will open its doors from Sept. 18 to 23 for the EMO and more than 1,750 exhibitors from 42 countries. The entire spectrum of manufacturing technology will be in the spotlight there. "You won't find the breadth of technical offerings at any other international trade fair," Heering emphasizes.

The fair has an eye for the challenges that exist in manufacturing: the need for greater efficiency, flexibility, quality, accuracy, integration of artificial intelligence, factory networks... With a number of common booths, EMO Hannover shows what's happening, in trending topics such as additive manufacturing, connectivity, cobots and sustainability in manufacturing.

"This latest showcase in particular, which demonstrates the latest advances in sustainability, has already attracted a great deal of interest. Exhibitors are excited to show how they are positioning themselves in this field," says Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, co-executive director at VDW. Research institutes will also be prominent at this booth.

The future of manufacturing technology

EMO Hannover brings together the entire industrial value chain and shows what is state-of-the-art today and what we can expect from future developments. "A focus within this will also be the recruitment of technically skilled employees. There will be a Special Training Stand, which will introduce visitors to the services of Nachwuhsstiftung Maschinenbau," Heering explained.

Then again, at the umati booth there will be a large live demonstration to show what connectivity can mean as the basis for efficient networking within and between factories. Finally, the start-up zone is also well worth browsing through the future of manufacturing technology. Two forums, in Halls 9 and 16, expand on this with in-depth presentations around Future Insights topics. The program includes a conference on opportunities on the Indian market, the seminar "New digital work - opportunity or disenfranchisement?", and of course there are also numerous lectures on the program that further explain the three megatrends mentioned above. This content, by the way, is linked to digital services. "Some presentations will be live streamed or recorded. With this we help support visitors who may not be able to attend everything, but thus still have their finger on the pulse of deeper-reaching information and debates," Schäfer explains.

All networking opportunities

All of these events are not just about knowledge exchange, but also help spark conversation among participants. As the world's leading trade fair for manufacturing technology, EMO Hannover lends itself like no other to the creation and expansion of an international network of manufacturing experts, from suppliers and customers as well as from the scientific community. All visitors also receive a "matchmaking" offer when they register online for the fair. Based on their profile and interests, they can arrange appointments with people who share them.
