Now that due to today's high mix, low volume production is increasingly becoming the norm, picks Matsuura out with a new model. Even workpieces up to 520 mm in diameter can now be produced unmanned thanks to the MAM72-52V. Supplier Bender Technology is happy to introduce the machine to you in detail.
Matsuura is a renowned supplier of high-quality and highly innovative five-axis vertical machining centers characterized by high speed and capacity. In 1991, it introduced Matsuura the first MAM72 series, the name stands for Matsuura Advanced Manufacturing 72 and basically tells it all. After all, these machines allowed for 72 hours of unmanned operation. The concept of their tower pallet system is still unmatched in the market. But that is by no means the only asset. Process integration, complex five-axis machining, variable part production and volumes with very high reliability are the standard for every Matsuura MAM72 machine.
Matsuura is now building on this tradition. The years of experience on the shop floor and the data collected on the functioning and performance of the machines now culminate in a new model: the MAM72-52V. This machine is specifically designed to also handle larger workpieces than is possible on the existing models. The new Matsuura can handle workpieces with a diameter of 520 mm, a height of 400 mm and a maximum weight of 300 kg. Compared to existing models, Matsuura engineers have rotated the fourth and fifth axes 90°. This results in greater stability and accessibility to machine these pieces flawlessly.
The performance of the MAM72-52V will not leave you unmoved either. Its matrix warehouse combined with its 15PC pallet warehouse guarantees you high spindle efficiency. Designed entirely in-house, the pallet warehouse stands out for its compact footprint on the production floor and its high speed. Together with the matrix warehouse and efficient chip removal, this ensures 24/7 unmanned production. By the way, the spindle itself is available in two versions: with a speed of 15,000 or 20,000 min-1 with a torque of 187 Nm. With displacements of the X, Y and Z axes of 60 m/min and the directly driven fourth and fifth axes (50 and 100 min, respectively-1) they are among the best in their segment. This is only possible by keeping the design and production of the spindles in-house. For example, assembly takes place in clean rooms.
The controls on the Matsuura MAM72 52V consists as standard of the FANUC 31i control with a 15" touch panel. Features such as thermal spindle displacement compensation and ECO Meister are also standard, keeping the machine running accurately and stably and making particularly energy-efficient use of both power and compressed air. In addition to the MAM72-52V, the MAM72-70V was launched on the market last year. This may call itself the bigger brother and can machine pieces with dimensions of up to 700 mm in diameter and 500 mm in height.
