The replacement of an obsolete machine or the expansion of the machine park mean a substantial investment for every manufacturing company. It comes down to making the right choices, and then the support of a specialist cannot be underestimated. Promas offers purchase, installation, commissioning, maintenance and service of high-quality machining CNC metalworking machines from leading manufacturers: vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers, CNC lathes, CNC bed milling machines, teach-in, vertical and carousel lathes, gantry and high-speed milling machines. At Machineering, the Maasbree-based company is highlighting machines from HEDELIUS, CMZ and HARTFORD, brands that have long been high-profile in both the Netherlands and Belgium.
The German family business HEDELIUS develops and manufactures high-quality three-, four- and five-axis CNC machining centers and slewing head machines with stationary bed and moving column. Thus, the ACURA series - types 50, 65 and 85 - was developed to machine complex workpieces with high precision, reliably and quickly on five axes. The compact design allows these machines to be integrated into almost all production environments. Thanks to a large sliding door and the low machine bed height, operators have easy access to the rotary/swing table. These systems include a tool magazine with up to 80 positions (optionally expandable by 180 or 264 positions), which can be loaded from the front.
"The wide working area with the continuously pivoting main spindle ensures that long workpieces up to 6000 kg can be machined with the machining centers of the TILTENTA family. Thanks to the integrated NC indexing table and workspace distribution, it is also possible to accurately machine parts up to 1800 kg in shuttle mode 5-sided," says Richard Hermans, director of Promas BV. "TILTENTA is available in five series - 6, 7, 9, 10 and 11 - each with several variants, differing mainly from each other by the range of the X-axis. This allows us to always offer customers a solution perfectly tailored to their needs. Moreover, these machining centers can also be linked to the manufacturer's automation solutions, allowing for longer unmanned production runs."
For 75 years, the CMZ brand from Zaldibar near Bilbao, Spain, has been synonymous with CNC lathes that meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy and reliability. With their focus on lathes only, they know better than anyone how the machines should add value on the customer's shop floor.
"The program includes only a handful of models - TTL, TA, TD and TTS - so they can finish them one by one with precision down to the smallest detail. A robust and extremely stable cast iron frame forms the basis of every CMZ machine. This is essential for combining heavy power with high accuracy," Hermans explains. "The main spindle, but optionally also the driven tools, can develop relatively high power and guarantee shorter cycle times. Motors, spindles and guides are oil-cooled so that temperature effects remain minimal. Thus, the same accuracy is still guaranteed in the evening as at the start of the day."
Promas has also been distributing for some time the machining centers and gantry machines from Hartford of Taiwan, which stand out mainly in terms of user choices.
"With no other brand does one get so many different options within the same working range in terms of control, spindle, transmission.... So it is very easy to choose the machine according to one's applications, instead of having to adapt the pieces to the machine," concludes Richard Hermans. "This applies to the machining centers, but also to the gantry machines. This approach is clearly catching on on the Belgian market, as we already have several nice references in different formats."
